RAVEN RECEIVES HONORARY DOCTORATE OF SCIENCE FROM YALE

Dr. Peter H. Raven, president of the Missouri Botanical Garden, received an honorary Doctor of Science degree from Yale University at its 305th commencement ceremony in New Haven, Conn. Yale University President Richard C. Levin cited Raven’s achievements as a renowned visionary leader in conservation and biodiversity who has transformed the garden into a respected research institution in his 35-year tenure.

MCNARY RECEIVES EXCELLENCE IN GOVERNANCE AWARD FROM MISSOURI HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION

The Missouri Hospital Association presented a 2006 Excellence in Governance Award to Gene McNary, board member emeritus of Shriners Hospitals for Children-St. Louis, in recognition of his contributions to the healthcare community. McNary is one of six trustees from across the state who received Excellence in Governance awards during a presentation at the association’s annual Leadership Forum. McNary served as chairman of the hospital’s board of governors from January 2003 to December 2004.

CITY OF FERGUSON APPOINTS NEW PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

Rosalind Williams has been appointed to the position of planning and development director, filling a vacancy that has been open since January 2006. Williams was hired in May as the community development coordinator for the city. Previously, she worked for the city of Kirkwood for 22 years in planning and development.

RENEWABLE AGRICULTURAL ENERGY HIRES SCHLICHER

Martha Schlicher, director of the National Corn-to-Ethanol Research Center, has joined Renewable Agricultural Energy Inc. as vice president of engineering and operations. From 1988 to 2002, she held a number of senior management positions at Monsanto Company.

BKD NAMES THREE NEW PRINCIPALS

Accounting firm BKD has named Leslie D. Wilson and Frederick K. Helfrich partners and has hired a third partner, William D. James. Wilson is a member of the firm’s not-for-profit and government group and has 10 years of experience providing auditing and consulting services to various organizations.

As a member of BKD’s health care group, Helfrich provides accounting services to health care providers in Illinois and Missouri. Before joining BKD, he worked for two years in the accounting department of a local health care system.

James has joined BKD as a principal assigned to the firm’s international tax team. He specializes in transfer pricing and valuation issues and most recently worked for a Big Four firm in Boston.

GEORGE ROMAN NAMED NEW BOEING ST. LOUIS REGIONAL EXECUTIVE

Boeing Integrated Defense Systems President and CEO Jim Albaugh has appointed George Roman, a 25-year company veteran, to regional executive for Boeing St. Louis.

The appointment is part of the general reorganization of Boeing IDS announced earlier this year. Roman succeeds Pat Finneran, president of Support Systems.

In his new role, Roman will work with other business, education and community leaders as well as state and federal officials in the region on behalf of the 16,000 Boeing employees in the area. He will continue in his role as vice president and general manager of Support Systems.

Roman joined the company in 1980 and has served in a number of leadership positions, including vice president and chief of staff for Boeing Washington D.C. operations.

Headquarters of the $30.8 billion Integrated Defense Systems business and to Phantom Works, Boeing’s research and development unit, St. Louis is home to the IDS Support Systems business; production of the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, the F-15E Strike Eagle, the T-45 Training System, major portions of the C-17 Globemaster III, multiple weapons systems and major portions of the U.S. Army’s Future Combat Systems; as well as the Virtual Warfare Center.

Duncan-Hewitt is currently a tenured associate professor at Auburn University in Alabama and will join St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Sept. 1. Kilgore started her new position on July 1 after serving as assistant dean in the Maryville University College of Arts and Sciences, where she is also a tenured associate professor.

James R. Klingler has rejoined A.G. Edwards in the firm’s Gallatin Asset Management subsidiary as vice president and manager of business development. He worked at A.G. Edwards from 1991 to 1997 as an associate vice president and compliance counsel. Klingler left the firm in 1997 to work at Eclipse Capital Management Inc. as a senior vice president, corporate secretary and general counsel.
