BRIDGE OF
FRIENDSHIP DINNER UNITES MILITARY AND BUSINESS COMMUNITIES
The 12th annual Bridge of Friendship dinner
honoring the men and women at Scott Air Force Base was held on Tuesday,
May 21, 2002 at the Missouri Athletic Club. More than 300 business
leaders and their guests were in attendance at this event.
General John W. Handy, Commander in Chief, United States Transportation
Command and Commander, Air Mobility Command was the keynote speaker.
RGCA Military Affairs and the St. Louis Council-Navy League were
the co-hosts for this year’s event.

Band of Mid America’s Starlifter provided the entertainment for
the evening.
John W. Bachmann, Chairman of the Board of RCGA presented General
and Mrs. Handy with a warm welcome to St. Louis and a copy of the
book, “St. Louis-for the Record.”
General Handy, an avid NASCAR fan, was also presented with an official
“NASCAR” jacket and autographed photograph of Dale Ehrhart, Jr.,
courtesy of Anheuser-Busch and provided by the St. Louis Council
of the Navy League.
A Proclamation honoring the men and women of Scott Air Force Base
was presented to General Handy on behalf of Mayor Francis Slay.
MG Loran C. Schnaidt, USAF,(Ret.) narrated a flag folding ceremony,
which was demonstrated by the Missouri National Guard Funeral Honors
Program members. Pamphlets regarding the proper care and display
of the United States Flag were provided each guest.
