The St. Louis
building community and the March of Dimes presented a Lifetime Achievement
Award to Charles “Chuck” Oertli, P.E., during the 2002 Building
the Community Awards. Oertli, chairman of Guarantee Electrical Co.,
was recognized for his “service and dedication to lighting the neighborhoods
and lives of people throughout St. Louis” throughout his 50-year
career. He joined Guarantee in 1954 and became the company’s president
in 1972.
Celebrating its centennial this year, Guarantee has grown to be
one of the nation’s leading electrical contracting firms with more
than 600 employees. Under Oertli’s leadership, Guarantee has supported
many civic projects including lighting all of St. Louis’ Salvation
Army Tree of Lights and illuminating Zoofaris at the Saint Louis
Zoo. Guarantee and its staff also have provided special services
for the Missouri Historical Society, the Missouri Botanical Garden
and Tower Grove Park, as well as supported the St. Louis Heart Walk
and March of Dimes. Most recently, Guarantee electrified the opening
of the newly renovated Planetarium at the St. Louis Science Center.
Svendsen Named VP of Sales For Adam’s Mark Hotels & Resorts

Adam’s Mark Hotels & Resorts has named Knud Svendsen vice president
of sales. Svendsen, a 16-year veteran of hospitality sales and marketing,
was previously director of sales and marketing for the Hilton Hotels
Corporation’s Embassy Suites Hotel in downtown Chicago and supported
the grand opening of the $350 million property. He was recognized
for leading the Hilton/Embassy Suites 2001 Grand Opening Marketing
Campaign of the Year.
Global Granite & Marble Expands St. Louis
Operations
Global Granite & Marble (GGM), a St. Louis-based natural stone importer
and distributor, has expanded its facilities, adding a new corporate
office and tile storage facility. In addition, the company named
Robert Glik as vice president for commercial sales.
“Adding a new corporate officer and increasing our storage capacity
for natural tiles fits well with our plan to expand our commercial
operations,” says Elliot Uchitelle, GGM’s managing partner. “This
expansion brings our total capacity to more than 100,000 square
feet, allowing us to effectively warehouse and move large quantities
of natural stone throughout the greater Midwest region.”
GGM’s partners travel to quarries in Brazil, Egypt, France, Italy,
Mexico, Peru, and Spain to obtain natural stone for both commercial
and residential customers. The product has become increasingly popular
for building and remodeling projects from kitchen countertops to
commercial flooring.

Steven Wendling, CPA, has joined Thunder Aviation NA Inc. as vice
president and chief financial officer. He brings to Thunder Aviation
more than 14 years of financial experience, nine of which he gained
with the St. Louis office of Ernst & Young LLP. Most recently, Wendling
was with Outsourcing Solutions Inc. in both St. Louis and Atlanta.
Based at Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Chesterfield, Thunder Aviation
has an extensive avionics program and provides a variety of maintenance
and inspection services.
CFB Promotes Hampp

Joe Miller as vice president of business development. An ISO 9001
certified union mechanical contractor specializing in piping, plumbing
and HVAC systems, Condaire serves the automotive, chemical, power,
water treatment, pharmaceutical, and high purity industries.

American Equity Mortgage has named Robert Mercer Jr. as president.
Deanna Daughhetee Vinson, who founded the company in 1992 with her
husband, has moved into the new position of chief executive officer.
Mercer joined American Equity Mortgage as vice president of operations
in June 2001. With more than 30 years of experience in consumer
and commercial lending, Mercer has held executive and managerial
positions at several institutions including National City Bank,
Citigroup and Ford Motor Credit. Most recently, Mercer served as
president of Altegra Credit Co.
Vinson has served as president of American Equity Mortgage since
its inception 10 years ago. Under her leadership, the company has
grown to more than 350 employees with 19 branch locations in seven
states.
Edgewood Children’s Center Appoints Crull
as President and CEO

Edgewood Children’s Center has appointed Wayne Crull as its new
president and chief executive officer. Crull replaces Susan Stapleton
who resigned in February to direct the National Center of Parents
As Teachers.
Crull comes to Edgewood after serving six years as vice president
for new business development at the Missouri Baptist Children’s
Home. He has more than 20 years experience with fiscal and fiduciary
responsibility, as well as individual and family counseling, combined
with advocacy for children and families at the state and national
levels.
Edgewood Children’s Center, founded in 1834, is a residential and
day treatment facility for severely emotionally disturbed children
between ages 3 and 17. The center provides therapy, special education,
diagnostic, and family support services.
Martin Joins Ameren Corp. as Human Resources VP

Ameren Corporation has named Donna Martin as vice president of human
resources. With more than 16 years experience in human resources,
Martin comes to Ameren from Faulding Pharmaceuticals of Paramus,
N.J., where she was senior vice president of HR. Martin also spent
15 years at Bell Atlantic Co. in Arlington, Va., where she directed
performance improvement, management services and served as group
director for human resources before becoming executive director
of benefits. Martin also has 10 years of experience in the education
field.
Kranson Appoints Strope as President
Keith Strope has been promoted to president of Kranson Industries
and TricorBraun. Strope has been with Kranson Industries since 1981.
Prior to his appointment to president, Strop was chief operating
officer of the companies and now holds both titles.
Kranson Industries is parent company to TricorBraun, a supplier
of rigid packaging components and services. TricorBraun specializes
in packaging for health and beauty products, food and beverages,
household chemicals, and pharmaceuticals. The company has 27 offices
in the U.S. and Canada.
