The St. Louis
region lays claim to many companies that have not only survived
the fierce pace of today’s relentless technologic change, but excelled
despite this challenging environment. The 2001 St. Louis Regional
Technology FAST 50 awards represent the leaders who are driving
the industry to the next level. These leaders have the perseverance,
innovation, risk and passion that it takes to achieve success.
This special issue of St. Louis Commerce Magazine focuses
on the sixth year of the St. Louis Regional Technology FAST 50;
co-presented by Deloitte & Touche and the RCGA, which recognizes
the fastest growing technology companies, based on percentage revenue
growth over five years (1996 to 2000). Participants can be public
or private and encompass all industry segments including biotechnology,
semiconductors, Internet, software and communications.
More than 20 newcomers join the list this year along with many repeat
winners, most notably, three six-time winners—Cornerstone Solutions
Group, G. A. Sullivan and The Mattson Jack Group.
This year’s group totaled more than $7.1 billion in revenue in 2000
with an average five-year growth rate of 1,127% between 1996 to
2000. And on average these companies spent $1.8 million on R&D last
year.
On September 20, the 2001 St. Louis Regional Technology FAST 50
will be announced and recognized in an awards ceremony and gala
dinner at the St. Louis Science Center.
In addition, winners of the North American Technology FAST 50 programs
in 21 regions also are automatically eligible for the Technology
FAST 500, which ranks the 500 fastest growing North American technology
companies. The Technology FAST 500 winners will be publicized in
Forbes ASAP and be invited to the annual Technology FAST
500 CEO Summit, held May 8 to 10, 2002, at the Breakers Resort in
Palm Beach, Fla.
Last year, the St. Louis region boasted seven companies that made
the FAST 500, all of which are privately held: Rose International
ranked #90 with five-year growth of 4,841%; Interlock Resources,
Inc. ranked #128, with 3,158% five-year growth; Maryville Technologies
