The region's fast growing technology companies showcase why St. Louis is a prominent technology center in the United States.
By Liese Hutchison
Silicon Valley, Silicon Forest, Silicon Prairie, St. Louis. The Sesame Street nursery rhyme would say that one of these things is not like the other, but the only thing different is the metropolitan region doesn’t have Silicon in front of its name. St. Louis is exactly like the others—home to fast-paced, innovative, exciting and nationally prominent technology-oriented companies.
Four years of the St. Louis Regional Technology FAST 50 Awards prove that this region is America’s Center for Technology. On the list this year are 10 four-time winners, 30 repeats from last year and 20 newcomers. In addition to creating anticipation each year as to what company is ranked where, the awards have also helped spawn the Technology Gateway Alliance.
Held again at the St. Louis Science Center, the awards program and dinner is Thursday, Sept. 23. The gala showcases the region’s fastest-growing, high-tech companies that develop and/or provide technology-based products or services. This includes technology production, manufacturing of technology-related products or using technology in a unique way. Dramatic growth in revenues over a five-year period is a key requirement needed to make the FAST 50. Past companies ranked number one have shown five-year growth rates of 10,000% to 30,000%.
