WEBSTER UNIVERSITY NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF “GREAT COLLEGES TO WORK FOR”
The Chronicle of Higher Education ranked Webster University in the top five of its 2008 Great Colleges to Work For list, a ranking of national institutions with 500 to 2,400 employees. The national survey ranked Webster University in the top five in 14 categories. Additionally, Webster ranked high overall among such institutions as Stanford, Emory, Duke and USC with only seven institutions posting better scores.
More than 15,000 administrators, faculty members and staff members at 89 colleges and universities responded to the survey.

BEST PLACES TO LIVE
For the second time in three years, O’Fallon, Mo., has been named on Money magazine’s Best Places to Live, a list of America’s best small cities. O’Fallon ranked No. 68 on the 2008 list, which appeared in the magazine’s August issue. Two other cities in St. Charles County, St. Peters (No. 60) and St. Charles (No. 82), also made the list.
In assessing communities, Money magazine compared national statistics on finances, housing prices, job growth, transportation, public safety, education, leisure and cultural activities, weather, health and demographics for 2007. The complete list can be found online at http://money.cnn.com/.
SAINT LOUIS SCIENCE CENTER RANKED IN TOP 10 BY PARENTS MAGAZINE
Parents magazine evaluated 150 science and technology museums nationwide and listed the Saint Louis Science Center as fifth on its list in its September issue. The article highlights the center’s Discovery Room, Children’s Gallery Guide and the Science Goes Splat demonstration. Parents analyzed a survey about each center and requested details about its science demonstrations, special events, camps and classes. They also considered each facility’s stroller-friendliness, dining options, the quality of the staff, convenience of family restrooms, and the price.
HOK TOPS ENGINEERING NEWS-RECORD’S INAUGURAL RANKING OF GREEN DESIGN FIRMS
Architect HOK is the greenest design firm on the planet, according to Engineering News-Record’s Top 100 Green Design Firms list. The inaugural rankings are based on 2007 revenue for design services from projects actively seeking certification from major third-party environmental standards or ratings organizations.
HOK generated $151.45 million (23 percent of its total revenue) from sustainable projects in 2007. In the magazine’s individual rankings by sector, HOK ranked first in the healthcare sector, first in the government offices sector, second in commercial offices, and third in education.
Collectively, the Top 100 design firms generated $1.74 billion in revenue from sustainable projects in 2007, which accounted for 7.4 percent of the Top 100’s total design revenue.
