St. Anthony’s Cancer Care Center Acquires ‘Trilogy’ Technology

St. Anthony’s Medical Center has added a $3.5 million Trilogy system to its comprehensive cancer care services. The Trilogy system provides the most advanced non-surgical treatment of cancer and many neurological disorders, SAMC officials say.

The technology is an improvement over the gamma knife system, which can deliver radiation only to tumors within the cranium. The Trilogy system can radiate any part of the skull, neck, head or other part of the body. It puts out a higher dosage of radiation, which translates to fewer and faster treatments, officials say.

New Software Enables Easy Access to Huge Mars Database

A software program developed by Washington University researchers is allowing viewers access to data and some early images from the most powerful spectral camera ever sent to Mars. NASA’s Planetary Data System (PDS) Geosciences Node, housed in the Earth and Planetary Sciences building on the Wash U. campus, produced the program, the Orbital Data Explorer.

The program is a collection of tools that allows users to search, display and download PDS-archived data from the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) and other selected Mars missions. Since last November, the orbiter has been searching for mineralogical evidence of past water on the Martian surface.

The program is available at: http://ode.rsl.wustl.edu/mars/.
