NEWTON AS ECONOMIC COUNCIL CHAIRMAN
JOE
HASTEN, US Bank vice chairman, succeeds
Newton as economic council chairman |
|
At its monthly
meeting, the RCGA Board elected U.S. Bank vice chairman Joe Hasten
to succeed Jan Newton, former President of SBC Southwestern Bell
- Missouri, as both RCGA board vice chair for Economic Development
and as chair of the Greater St. Louis Economic Development Council.
Newton moved to Austin last month to become president of SBC Texas.
As incoming chair of the Council, Hasten plans to focus the Council
on a process to identify three to four issues around which community
leaders can rally to strengthen our regional economy and economic
development. The Council was established in 1994 by the RCGA, in
conjunction with Civic Progress, to provide a public/private regional
forum for economic development.
Hasten heads Corporate Banking at U.S. Bancorp, which covers large
corporate, specialized lending and industry customers and all wholesale
product development and sales for the entire company. He has been
with the institution since 1995. He has also held senior level positions
with Standard Chartered’s U.S. Banking Division. Prior to this,
he was with First Chicago (now Banc One) and its subsidiary, American
National Bank.
