BETHESDA HEALTH GROUP ANNOUNCES EXECUTIVE
PROMOTIONS
At Bethesda Health Group, Donald J. Cognata has been promoted
to senior vice president of administrative services and Patricia
P. Kapsar has been promoted to senior vice president of corporate
compliance.
UMSL SCHOLAR APPOINTED DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS PARK
Julius H. Johnson Jr., associate professor of strategic management
and international business at the Univer-sity of Missouri-St.
Louis, has been appointed director of the Business, Technology
and Research Park at University of Missouri-St. Louis. Currently
under construction, the park will house business and technology
companies, including pharmacy benefits manager Express Scripts
Inc. Johnson joined the university’s College of Business Administration
in 1991.
ADVANTAGE CAPITAL’S ZAJAC NAMED ENTREPRENEUR
OF THE YEAR
Scott Zajac, senior managing director for Advantage Capital
Partners, has been named the 2006 Entrepreneur of the Year by
the St. Louis Chapter of the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO).
The award recognizes Zajac’s career-long leadership in helping
entrepreneurs succeed by providing support and funding for growing
companies in high-growth industries, as well as his dedication
to economic development and community service.
The EO award particularly recognizes Zajac’s leadership during
2006, during and after Hurricane Katrina, a situation of challenge
for Advantage Capital with headquarters in New Orleans and operations
in several other states.
“We are proud to see a leader of the venture capital industry
recognized for supporting entrepreneurship,“ says Mark Lewis,
speaking for the Missouri Venture Capital Association. Lewis
is a principal for Two Rivers Associates in Clayton.
Advantage has invested about $80 million in Missouri businesses
and entrepreneurs since the firm opened its St. Louis office
ten years ago.
EO is a membership organization designed to help business owners
from around the world on their path to greater business and
personal fulfillment.
BAKER JOINS EVANS & DIXON
Lorne J. Baker has joined the workers’ compensation practice
group of Evans & Dixon LLC as a senior associate. He formerly
served as assistant vice president and general counsel for MERS/Missouri
Goodwill Industries.
WALTON EXEC APPOINTED TO NATIONAL COMMITTEE
OF THE ASSOCIATED GENERAL CONTRACTORS
Lotus Lietzke, vice president of risk management at Walton Construction
Co., has been appointed to the National Committee for Risk Management
of the Associated General Contractors of America. The organization’s
local chapter recommended Lietzke for the appointment.
FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF ST. LOUIS EXPANDS
MORTGAGE LOAN DEPARTMENT
First National Bank of St. Louis has hired Neil C. Volkmann
as senior vice president of mortgage lending. He joins the bank
with nearly 20 years of experience in various management and
senior loan officer positions.
The bank also has hired nine new mortgage loan officers at various
St. Louis-area branches: Jean Godi, Ellen Rigel, Brian McRae,
Tony Grubbs, Gene Jacobson, Mark Rizzo, Troy Boulware, Bill
Tierney and Lara Moore-Vitiello.
ADVANCED ICU CARE NAMES GORMAN CEO
Advanced ICU Care has named Dr. Mary Jo Gorman CEO. Previously,
she served as chief medical officer for IPC-The Hospitalist
Company.
HUSCH & EPPENBERGER WELCOMES RELIHAN
TO BUSINESS LITIGATION PRACTICE GROUP
Attorney Justin A. Relihan has joined Husch & Eppenberger LLC’s
general business litigation practice group. His practice focuses
on the areas of toxic tort, medical malpractice defense and
product liability defense. Prior to joining Husch, Relihan worked
as an associate at another St. Louis law firm.
SSM HEALTH CARE'S SCHOENHARD NAMED TO
AHA BOARD
William C. Schoenhard, executive vice president and chief operating
officer for SSM Health Care, has been named to the board of
trustees by the American Hospital Association. Schoenhard is
one of seven new members elected nationwide for terms beginning
Jan. 1, 2007, and ending Dec. 31, 2009.
MCGUIRE NAMED VP OF PRIVATE BANKING
FOR COMMERCE BANK
Cari McGuire has joined Commerce Bank as vice president of private
banking for The Commerce Trust Company. In her new position,
she will provide customized banking and borrowing solutions
to professionals, executives and high net worth individuals.
Prior to joining Commerce, she served as vice president of premier
banking and investments at Bank of America.
POLSINELLI SHALTON WELTE SUELTHAUS EXPANDS
TAX PRACTICE
Polsinelli Shalton Welte Suelthaus PC has expanded its tax practice
with the addition of attorneys J. Michael Cornett and Douglas
L. McHoney. Cornett, now a shareholder in the firm, has more
than 20 years of tax experience and has focused his career on
international tax issues. Before joining Polsinelli, he served
as a partner with Miller & Chevalier Chartered in Washington,
D.C. McHoney, who previously worked as director of international
tax services for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, has joined Polsinelli
as a senior associate.
LUTHERAN FOUNDATION OF ST. LOUIS ELECTS
ATTORNEY TO ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS
James R. Dankenbring has been elected to the Lutheran Foundation
of St. Louis’ board of directors. He will serve a three-year
term as a member of the 15-person board. Dankenbring is the
managing partner of Spencer Fane Britt & Browne LLP’s St. Louis
office.
CORRIGAN APPOINTED TO SERVE ON THE AMERICAN
BAR ASSOCIATION'S HOUSE OF DELEGATES
William M. Corrigan Jr., a partner at Armstrong Teasdale, has
been elected by The Missouri Bar to serve as a member of the
American Bar Association’s House of Delegates. The House of
Delegates is the policy-making body of the American Bar Association.
Corrigan will serve a two-year term.
WHITE APPOINTED TO PRESIDENTIAL COUNCIL
FOR AMERICAN NATIONAL RED CROSS
Joseph C. White, CEO of the American Red Cross St. Louis Area
Chapter, has been selected to serve a three-year term on the
Presidential Advisory Council of the American National Red Cross
in Washington, D.C.
HENNEMAN ENGINEERING NAMES NEW VICE
PRESIDENT OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Walter E. Shain is the new vice president of business development
at Henneman Engineering Inc. His work experience includes positions
as vice president of Hospital Building and Equipment Corporation
in St. Louis and director of business development for Marshall
Erdman and Associates in Madison, Wisc.
LANDMARK CONTRACT MANAGEMENT NAMES LOPATA VP
Marc Lopata joined Landmark Contract Manage-ment as vice president.
As a LEED-accredited professional engineer, Lopata will focus
on Landmark’s high technology and alternate fuels markets, as
well as its foundation claims resolution group. Prior to joining
Landmark, Lopata was director of construction for MCI Telecommunications
for eight years.
VARSAM JOINS BLACKWELL SANDERS
Blackwell Sanders has announced that Nick H. Varsam has joined
the firm as a partner in the corporate department. Varsam will
focus on securities transactions and compliance, mergers and
acquisitions, and corporate governance. Varsam served as general
counsel for Huttig Building Products Inc. from 2001 to 2005.
SENIOR ARCHAEOLOGIST JOINS SCI ENGINEERING
Donald L. Booth has joined SCI Engineering Inc. as a senior
archaeologist and member of the cultural resource services team.
He will work in the firm’s office in O’Fallon, Ill. Booth brings
more than 10 years of experience conducting archaeological projects
and has taught various university courses in anthropology.
