CITY CURB APPEAL
|
St. Louis has the horticultural expertise and growing season to use flowers to draw locals and visitors alike to downtown. We need not take a back seat to any other city when it comes to beautiful
gardens and landscaping.
Flowers relax people. Flowers inspire long walks. Flowers make us feel safer. Flowers show St. Louis cares about its downtown. Flowers demonstrate civic pride.
We raised lots of money through a two-week auction last Spring on KMOX for this project. Amazingly, most of the donations came from Chesterfield and Collinsville and Belleville, and not just from the City of St. Louis. I think this shows that many people understand
downtown St. Louis is the region’s front doorstep. Our whole
bi-state area is judged by what’s seen downtown. People know this. Thus, there is great interest in enhancing our curb appeal.
