JEWISH FEDERATION ELECTS HARRIS AS PRESIDENT


HARVEY HARRIS

Community leader and attorney, Harvey Harris, has been named president of the Jewish Federation of St. Louis. A managing partner at The Stolar Partnership, Harris has been a Federation board member and held numerous leadership positions for more than 30 years. He has served the Federation as Vice President of Planning and Financial Planning, as Treasurer, and has been active on the Endowment, Invest- ment and Budget Committees. In 1968, he received the Grosberg Young Leadership Award.

In addition, Harris chairs the Board of Commissioners of Metro, serves as chair emeritus of KETC-TV and chair of the St. Louis Chapter – American Red Cross. He currently serves on the boards of the St. Louis Science Center, American Jewish Committee, Barnes Jewish Hospital, and the St. Louis Symphony. Harris is a partner in Fox Associates, which owns and operates the Fox Theatre and Fox Theatricals, winners of three Tony Awards.

STARR NAMED MANAGING PRINCIPAL OF SUELTHAUS & WALSH

Helmut Starr has been named managing principal of the law firm Suelthaus & Walsh P.C. Former Managing Principal Stuart Zimbalist, who served the firm for eight years, will remain on the firm’s executive committee. Zimbalist will also continue as the chair of the firm’s Real Estate Development, Management & Financing Practice Group.

Starr has practiced commercial litigation and trial work since 1985, chairs the Municipal and Public Law Practice Group, and has been a member of the firm’s Executive Committee since 2001. He serves as the City Attorney for Webster Groves and Oakland, Mo. Starr joined Suelthaus & Walsh, P.C., as an associate in 1989 and became a principal of the firm in 1993. He is a graduate of Washington University School of Law and the University of Missouri–Columbia.

ROSEN JOINS FOLLMAN PROPERTIES

Follman Properties•ONCOR International recently appointed Judy Rosen, CMCA, AMS, PCAM, as vice president and director of residential services. She will oversee management of about 2,200 residential units including condominiums, town homes, villas and homeowner association in St. Louis and St. Charles counties.

With 25 years of residential property experience Rosen previously served as community manager at THF Realty/The Plaza in Clayton. She succeeds Ruth Barnes, CMCA, who retired at the end of August.

UNITED WAY APPOINTS GRAESSER AS CFO

The United Way of Greater St. Louis has named Kenneth Graesser, CPA, as chief financial officer. Previously, Graesser served as controller, retail operations, at Wabash National Corp. As CFO, Graesser directs all financial activities for the local United Way office, which supports more than 200 health and human services organizations in the city of St. Louis and 15 adjacent Missouri and Illinois counties.

COLEMAN NAMED FELLOW OF THE INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL

The International Economic Development Council (IEDC), the nation’s largest economic development professional association, has named St. Louis County Economic Council President and CEO Denny Coleman as a Fellow Member. The organization’s Fellow Member designation is awarded to members who have attained high regard and status in the field of economic development.

“Denny Coleman has been essential to St. Louis County’s considerable success in creating jobs, bringing in new businesses and diversifying our economic base as a foundation for future growth,” said Buzz Westfall, St. Louis County executive. “His work has made a significant contribution to the quality of life for all in St. Louis County.”

Coleman began his economic development career in 1975 as a founder and executive director of the De Sales Community Housing Corporation, a not-for-profit organization that promotes development in the Fox Park and Tower Grove East neighborhoods of St. Louis. In 1982, he joined Mercantile Bank as vice president of community development. Coleman’s efforts in this role were instrumental in winning Mercantile Bank two national economic development awards: the White House’s Private Sector Initiatives Award and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Developmen’s National Fair Housing Award. Prior to joining the St. Louis County Economic Council in 1990 as president and CEO, Coleman served in a similar role for the City of St. Louis as executive director for the Economic Development Corporation.

MIDWEST BANKCENTRE WELCOMES DYER AS REGIONAL PRESIDENT

Fred C. Dyer III, a commercial banker with 20 years experience in the St. Louis and St. Charles markets, has joined Midwest BankCentre as regional president–St. Charles region.

Most recently, Dyer was the regional president directing St. Charles County operations and middle market services at U.S. Bank. Also, he was previously associated with Firstar, Mercantile and Mark Twain Banks, where he started his career.

Dyer will continue Midwest BankCentre’s focus on serving St. Charles County businesses and residents. Midwest BankCentre introduced a unique bank design and service delivery style to the community with the August 2002 opening of its WingHaven® bank.

MARSH JOINS ENTERPRISE FINANCIAL AS ST. LOUIS BANK PRESIDENT

Enterprise Financial Services Corp., the holding company for Enterprise Banking and Enterprise Trust, has appointed Stephen Marsh as president of Enterprise Banking of St. Louis. Marsh also will serve as the senior loan officer for the St. Louis bank group, reporting to Peter Benoist, chairman and CEO of Enterprise Banking. In addition to his lending responsibilities, Marsh will be responsible for leading the middle market bank group for Enterprise in St. Louis and will serve as head of the Clayton unit.

Prior to joining Enterprise, Marsh served as president and senior loan officer of Southwest Bank, where he began his career in 1984. At Southwest, now owned by Marshall & IIsley Corp. of Milwaukee, he managed the commercial real estate department from 1984 to 1992. In 1992, Marsh was appointed senior loan officer and in 1999 was named president.

LARSONALLEN ELEVATES TWO TO PRINCIPAL IN ST. LOUIS

LarsonAllen (Larson, Allen, Weishair & Co., LLP) has promoted to principal. Curt Mayse in the Health Care division and Scott Strothkamp in the Auto Dealers division.

FORMER KPMG EXECUTIVE RECRUITED AS RCGA VICE PRESIDENT

Following a several month local and national search, Richard Linder has been recruited as RCGA Vice President for Industry Sector Development. Richard comes to the RCGA following recent completion of his Master’s degree in Business Administration at the Harvard Business School and studying at the Kennedy School of Public Policy.

A native Missourian, he worked for KPMG in St. Louis for five years, serving the Emerson account; he was then promoted to KPMG’s Transaction Services Group in Zurich, Switzerland. There, he served as the Global Accounts Manager for ABB, a $30 billion industrial conglomerate. Richard worked directly for ABB’s CFO and led teams in modeling operational and revenue projections for acquisition targets, and worked with ABB’s engineers in evaluating technology feasibilities.

In his new RCGA role, Richard is working for RCGA Senior Vice President for Economic Development Bob Coy in managing the Technology Gateway Council, as well as leading efforts to advance industry cluster initiatives for the RCGA (in plant and life sciences, IT, and advanced manufacturing).

In 1998, Richard attended the Goethe Institute in Munich, Germany where he participated in “super-intensive” culture and language courses. He formed Linder Consulting and continued serving clients in both Zurich and Istanbul prior to beginning studies at the Harvard Business School in 2000.

While at Harvard, Richard also studied at the Kennedy School of Public Policy, in addition to completing his MBA. He performed a comparative analysis of environments created by Ireland and peer countries in their efforts to capture the “biotech cluster”. The results of the study were referenced in the Irish Times and covered by other European papers. He and his team were runners up in the annual Harvard Business School Business Plan Competition.
