The RCGA Public Policy Council saluted Missouri and Illinois state
legislators for their leadership and sustained support for issues
important to the St. Louis region, at an evening reception and cruise
on the Tom Sawyer Riverboat in September. The Lewis & Clark Statesman
Award awarded annually by The RCGA’s Public Policy Council, recognizes
the St. Louis region’s elected leaders for their efforts to advance
the region’s legislative agenda.
The recipients of the second annual RCGA Lewis & Clark Statesman
Award are: Representative Richard Byrd (MO); Representative
Russ Carnahan (MO); Senator James Clayborne, Jr. (IL);
Senator Maida Coleman (MO); Representative Steve Davis
(IL); Representative Tom Dempsey (MO); Representative James
Michael Foley (MO); Senator Mike Gibbons (MO); Representative
Tim Green (MO); Representative Catherine Hanaway (MO);
Senator Ted House (MO); Senator Betty Sims (MO); Representative
Ron Stephens (IL); Representative Betty Thompson (MO);
and Representative Wes Wagner (MO). In addition, Missouri
Senate President Pro Tem Peter Kinder (MO) received this
year’s Outstanding Leadership Award, and retiring Madison County
Board Chairman Rudy Papa received a Lifetime Achievement
Award.
