Forward Metro St. Louis—a joint initiative of Civic Progress, Regional
Business Council, St. Charles Partners for Progress, and The RCGA—convened
its private sector leadership in September to begin the process
of setting key 2003 public policy priorities for the region. Civic
Progress President Craig Schnuck, chairman and CEO of Schnuck Markets,
chaired the meeting of the 25-member group.

Of prominent concern was the fact that term limits would result
in 99 new members of the House and Senate in Jefferson City in January.
Dire state budget forecasts in Missouri and Illinois were discussed
in relationship to potential effects on business, economic development,
higher education, and transportation.
The group finalized its consensus agenda for 2003 on October 31st
.
Co-chairs of the coalition for the coming year are Schnuck from
Civic Progress, Doug Yaeger of The RCGA, John Capps of the Regional
Business Council and Harlan Pals of Partners for Progress.
