Joseph F. (Jay) Holland II, senior vice president at Trammell Crow
Company, has been made a principal of the world-wide commercial
real estate firm. In addition to his duties as a broker, Holland
heads the St. Louis office’s corporate advisory services group,
which helps implement the firm’s national business plan. Holland
is a 25-year veteran of the commercial real estate business and
has been with Trammell Crow since 1999.

The American Institute of Architects has honored Eugene J. Mackey
III, of Mackey Mitchell Associates, with the 2004 Missouri Distinguished
Service Award. Mackey received the award for providing outstanding

UMB BANK ELECTS BAXTER TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS,
HIRES SMITH
Warner Baxter has been elected to UMB Bank’s board of directors,
and Janet Smith has joined the company as the senior vice president
and manager of the treasury management and technology services department.
As a new board member, Baxter will help counsel and guide banking
operations in the St. Louis region. He is currently executive vice
president and CFO of Ameren Corp. In her new position, Smith will
be responsible for new business development and client management
for the eastern Missouri region’s treasury management department.
She has 13 years of experience in the financial services industry,
most recently as vice president and manager of electronic product
management at Commerce Bank.

Mike Perks has been promoted to project manager at Balke Brown Associates.

Peter Raven, director of the Missouri Botanical Garden, will be
appointed to the President’s Committee for the National Medal of
Science. In March, President George W. Bush announced that Raven
and three others will serve on an independent, 12-member committee
