A.G. EDWARDS’ FREEMAN NAMED TOP MARKET
ANALYST IN BUSINESSWEEK SURVEY
Stuart Freeman, chief equity strategist at A.G. Edwards, has
been recognized as the top-rated market analyst based on his
predictions for the year-end levels of several key market indicators,
according to a survey released by BusinessWeek magazine
in the Dec. 25, 2006, issue.
The survey showed that Freeman’s targets for the Dow Jones Industrial
Average, the Nasdaq and the S&P 500 were within two percent
of their actual closing levels on Dec. 6, 2006. BusinessWeek
surveyed 76 equity strategists in December of 2005 and asked
them to predict where they thought the Dow, the NASDAQ and the
S&P 500 would end the year in 2006.
“Freeman, who earned both a bachelor’s in finance and an MBA
from Washington University in St. Louis, credits a favorite
professor, John Bowyer, for teaching him to analyze the stock
market,” noted the magazine. “Since joining A.G. Edwards as
a health-care analyst in 1983, Freeman has developed a set of
models with 200 variables that go back 30 years, including the
average duration of unemployment and a measure of after-tax
corporate profits. With these, he can simulate the economy and
determine which industries will do best under the various conditions
he forecasts.”
