Interior Design magazine has featured Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum in a 90-page special section of the magazine’s November 2004 issue. The article, entitled “Hitting it Out of the Park,” by Craig Kellogg, spotlights HOK for hurdling up three places to the No. 2 spot on the 2004 survey of the top 100 Interior Design Giants.
“HOK is truly willing to tackle projects that other global firms
consider impossible,” notes Kellogg.

POLSINELLI SHALTON WELTE SUELTHAUS RANKS AMONG LARGEST LAW FIRMS
Law firm Polsinelli Shalton Welte Suelthaus has landed on The National Law Journal’s survey of the nation’s 250 largest law firms, debuting at No. 198 with 200 lawyers. The firm also claimed the No. 2 spot on the list of fastest-growing firms with a 44 percent growth rate. Polsinelli added 61 lawyers to its headcount last year, 34 of which resulted from the merger of Kansas City-based Polsinelli Shalton & Welte with St. Louis-based Suelthaus last summer. Polsinelli’s growth is particularly remarkable during a time when the total number of attorneys grew by only 1.5 percent and the number of associates dropped by 3.5 percent.

PIN-UP BOWL FEATURED IN DELTA’S SKY MAGAZINE
As writer Kent Black explored the
resurgence of bowling as a hip pastime, he discovered The Loop’s Pin-Up Bowl and featured it in his article “Pin Number,” published in the November 2004 issue of Delta Air Lines’ Sky magazine. Black
spotlights the emergence of “boutique bowling,” in which small, intimate bowling alleys with a distinctive nightclub flavor have taken the place of the large bowling centers of the past.
Pin-Up Bowl, created by Blueberry Hill’s Joe Edwards, combines bowling lanes with the atmosphere of a martini bar. That unique atmosphere, Black writes, “struck a note with hip St. Louisians, and since Pin-Up opened last December, the lanes have been packed with convivial rollers seven nights a week until 3 a.m.”
“Pin-Up’s interior, with its framed pinup girls, leather booths and wooden Art Deco bar, seems more like an intimate nightclub from some 1930s New York society screwball comedy than a tenpin emporium.” |
