Choose
Environmental Excellence–Gateway Region (CEE-GR, featured
in the October 2000 issue of St. Louis Commerce Magazine) is issuing
a call for nominations for the 2001 Environmental Excellence Awards
Program. CEE-GR, to which the RCGA is strongly committed, is preparing
for its Second Annual Awards Ceremony (May 2001), which will honor
regional businesses, organizations, schools and residents for
their outstanding environmental accomplishments.
The first Awards Ceremony, held at the World’s Fair Pavilion in
Forest Park last June, recognized individuals and companies institutionalizing
programs or completing projects that positively impacted the quality
of the region’s environment. Some of last year’s honorees included
Boeing, SSM Healthcare, Flynn Park Elementary School and community
member Barry Siegel. Award winning efforts ranged from major operational
alterations to very basic recycling and resource management initiatives.
Anyone in the Greater St. Louis metropolitan region who initiates
or takes part in exceptional environmental activities is eligible
to be nominated. All initiatives—large or small—will be considered
and winners will be publicly recognized for their achievements
at the Second Annual Awards Ceremony in May, through local media
sources, as well as on Choose Environmental Excellence–Gateway
Region’s Web site.
