UNITED WAY NAMES CO-CHAIRS FOR THE CHARMAINE
CHAPMAN SOCIETY
The United Way of Greater St. Louis has announced that Lawrence
(Larry) E. Thomas, a partner at Edward Jones, and Deborah Patterson,
president of Monsanto Fund, will serve as 2007 co-chairs of
the Charmaine Chapman Society. The society recognizes African-Americans
who pledge an annual gift of $1,000 or more to the United Way
of Greater St. Louis.
FINE NAMED VP OF SALES AND MARKETING
AT KARPEL SOLUTIONS
Karpel Solutions, formerly Karpel Computer Systems, has named
Stan Fine as vice president of sales and marketing. With 40
years of technology-related experience, Fine is a former vice
president of marketing and sales at Connect America and currently
teaches management courses at St. Louis Community College.
ARMSTRONG TEASDALE ELECTS NEW MANAGING
PARTNER, ADDS IP PARTNER AND CO-CHAIRMAN
At Armstrong Teasdale LLP, Michael A. Chivell has taken over
as managing partner, succeeding Richard B. Scherrer. Chivell
is a transactional lawyer who concentrates his practice in corporate
and real estate services.
The firm has also hired prominent intellectual property trial
lawyer Nicholas B. Clifford Jr., formerly with Thompson Coburn
LLP. Clifford joins the firm’s litigation department as a partner
and co-chairman of the intellectual property litigation practice
group.

Attorney J. Bennett Clark has joined Bryan Cave LLP as a partner
in the firm’s intellectual property and commercial litigation
practice groups. He formerly served as chairman of the litigation
practice group at a St. Louis intellectual property firm for
15 years.

Accountant Scott T. Soucy has joined Anders Minkler & Diehl
LLP as director of the firm’s newly formed strategic services
group. Previously he was the chief financial officer for a distribution
entity based in St. Louis.
CASTELLANO RECEIVES ACCOUNTING AWARD
Accountant James G. Castellano, chairman of RubinBrown, has
received the Braden Award from Case Western Reserve University’s
Weatherhead Department of Accountancy. The award is bestowed
on an individual who has contributed significantly to the ideas
and practice of accountancy.

Reginald C. Johnson has joined the labor and employment department
of Spencer Fane Britt & Browne LLP as of counsel. Before joining
Spencer Fane, Johnson was a senior attorney with Fox Galvin.
LOMBARDI ELECTED PRESIDENT OF MARYVILLE UNIVERSITY
Maryville University’s board of trustees has announced that
Mark O. Lombardi will serve as the university’s 10th president.
Lombardi is currently the president of the College of Santa
Fe and will assume his new role with Maryville University on
July 1.
SLOCUM ELECTED PRESIDENT OF ST. LOUIS
METROPOLITAN MEDICAL SOCIETY
Dr. Stephen G. Slocum has been elected 2007 president of the
St. Louis Metropolitan Medical Society, an association that
represents physicians in the St. Louis area. Slocum is an ophthalmologist
and a partner at West County Ophthalmology Inc.
Other 2007 officers elected include Dr. George J. Hruza, president-elect;
Dr. Elie C. Azrak, vice president; and Dr. Jay L. Meyer, secretary.
RICHTER NAMED EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF
REGIONAL UNION CONSTRUCTION CENTER
Alan C. Richter has been named executive director of the new
Regional Union Construction Center incubator recently established
by PRIDE of St. Louis Inc. He is the former regional director
for the St. Louis Small Business Development Centers, an outreach
program affiliated with the University of Missouri–Columbia.

Jim Meier has been named chief information officer at Clayco.
Most recently he served as partner and chief technology officer
for Barry-Wehmiller Design Group.

Anne Hillyer has joined the board of trustees for Boys & Girls
Town of Missouri’s Eastern region. Hillyer is an attorney with
the Clayton firm Reeg & Nowogrocki LLC. She has been involved
with Boys & Girls Town for many years as a staff member and
most recently served on the Young Friends committee in St. Louis.
MCINTYRE NAMED ACTING PRESIDENT AT SLCC-WILDWOOD
Pam McIntyre, dean of continuing education and special projects
at St. Louis Community College-Meramec, has been appointed acting
president of the college’s new campus in Wildwood. McIntyre
will serve as acting president until the position is filled.

MERCY HOSPITAL—WASHINGTON
St. John’s Mercy Health Care has named Terri L. McLain president
of St. John’s Mercy Hospital–Washington. Since 1999, McLain
has been with ProMedica Health System as president of both ProMedica
Eastern Region and Bay Park Community Hospital in Oregon, Ohio.

Debra A. Kionka has joined the workers’ compensation practice
group at Evans & Dixon LLC as a senior associate. Previously
she served as a workers’ compensation attorney at a firm in

The Friends of the Sheldon has elected attorney John H. Quinn
III to serve on the board of directors. Quinn is a partner at
Armstrong Teasdale and a leader of the firm’s intellectual property
