A NEW MONTHLY TECHNOLOGY COLUMN
FEATURING TIMELY TECH TRENDS, TIPS AND UPDATES

When you accept the Nobel Prize, allow us the honor of saying, “We knew him/her when...” w Hired a new CIO? Let us know about it. Landed a research grant? Don’t keep it to yourself. Found a cure for the common cold? We’re all ears. w We’re looking for a few good bits, bytes and blurbs about technological developments for this new monthly column. Items need not be biotech-related, though we surmise that many will be, considering our region has been dubbed the BioBelt.

for inclusion in tech tidbits: Please e-mail your tech information as a press release to: meg@sggdesign.com

Website Teaches Grade-Schoolers About Ancient Missouri Cultures

Students can now explore ancient cultures via archaeological digs without getting muddy—virtually, that is, via a website geared toward teaching area students about Missouri's ancient cultures. The site, http://coas.missouri.edu/mas/macquest, is called Missouri’s Ancient Cultures Quest program, and combines up-to-date archaeological information.

Developed with fourth-grade students in mind, the site is adaptable for all grade levels, says Patti Wright, assistant professor of anthropology at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, who helped create the website. A virtual archaeologist, “Dr. MAC Quest,” interacts with site visitors and guides them through the program.

The website is a cooperative effort between Chesterfield Landmarks Preservation Commission, Missouri Archaeological Society, Parkway School District’s River Bend Elementary School and UMSL.
