ST. LUKE'S NAMED A TOP 100 HOSPITAL

St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield was named one of the nation’s 100 top hospitals by Evanston, Ill.-based Solucient. This is the sixth time in 10 years that St. Luke’s Hospital has received the honor, making it the only hospital in Missouri to achieve the designation six times or more.

The top hospitals emerged from Solucient’s 100 Top Hospitals: National Benchmarks for Success study in the Feb. 27 issue of Modern Healthcare magazine. The award recognizes hospitals that have achieved excellence in quality of care, operational efficiency, financial performance and adaptation to the environment.

According to the study, if all acute care hospitals performed at the same level as the top hospitals, as many as 106,312 more Medicare patients could survive and an additional 117,000 patient stays could be complication-free each year. The study also found that Top 100 Hospitals treated sicker patients who required more complex treatment yet had higher survival rates and lower costs than their peers.
