CREEGAN, manager,Boise Office SolutionsSt. Louis

In 1980, at the age of seventeen, James Creegan made a decision
that would prove to have a profound impact on his professional life.
He began working for a company that, to this day, he has not left.
More than two decades have passed since Creegan landed that warehouse
job. He moved from that position up to sales, then to sales management,
and now manages the St. Louis branch of Boise Office Solutions,
formerly known as Boise Cascade Office Products.
“The biggest challenge is also the most rewarding one, and that
is to provide unbelievable service to our customers,” says Creegan,
a Boston native. “We have associates who stay with this company
for a long time.”
The 100 St. Louis-based associates are employed in distribution,
sales and marketing, and office administration. These individuals,
many of whom are native Missourians, serve the more than 3,000 local
companies and organizations, including Anheuser-Busch, Boeing, and
BJC Health System, all of whom attain their supplies from Boise.
Boise and BJC Health System have a $20 million agreement through
2004.
“It’s always important to differentiate oneself from the competition,”
Creegan says. “We have a loyal customer base and truly have very
strong partnerships.”
A wholly owned subsidiary of Boise Cascade Corporation, Boise Office
Solutions is a premier multinational distributor of office and technology
products, office furniture and paper, with annual sales totaling
$3.5 billion. Approximately 13,000 associates work for Boise worldwide.
Products are delivered directly to the customer from 47 fully integrated
distribution centers located across the United States. The St. Louis
branch opened in 1995 when, according to Creegan, the company decided
it wanted a major presence here.
From photo inkjet printers to desktop storage drives or multimedia
projectors, Boise supplies everything necessary to help its clients
manage productive offices. Customers can order more than 100,000
office, technology, furniture, and paper products by phone or fax,
or by accessing Boise’s electronic online ordering system.
The company was recognized for its outstanding commitment to customer
service with Garner Inc.’s inaugural Customer Relationship Management
Excellence Award.

LEADERSHIP CIRCLE INSIGHTS
Where would your ideal vacation be?
“I would choose Big Cedar Lodge in Missouri, because it’s across
the lake from where I used to go camping as a kid.”
Randy Schilling, president & CEO, Quilogy

“I truly believe
in getting away to clear my brain and refocus my energy on my work.
My ideal vacation would be on a beautiful, sunny island with white
sandy beaches, clear blue water, and no cell phone or e-mail. Part
of the day, I would lounge in a comfortable beach chair with a great
novel, then water ski, swim, snorkel or go shopping the rest of
the time. In the evenings, I would dine at five-star restaurants
with world-class chefs, stunning wine cellars, and live music and
dancing.”
Cathy Dunkin, APR, managing principal, The Standing Partnership
“I would say the beaches of Destin, Fla. because of the beautiful
sunsets, the great food, and the lasting memories of good times
with family and friends.”
James P. Miller, managing director, Wyeth BioPharma
“I travel every March with my family to the big island of Hawaii,
which is my favorite vacation. We stay at the Mauna Kea resort and
my favorite activity is to sit on the beach and read.”
Michael Ross, president & CEO, Union Planters Bank
