JANOSKI TAKES HELM AT BIOGENERATOR

BioGenerator has appointed Ken Janoski as president and CEO. A native St. Louisan, Janoski returned to the area from Atlanta, where he was the principal founder of Atlanta-based Innovative Biosciences LLC.

“Because the region’s civic, business and university leaders had the foresight to make the investments needed in many key areas, St. Louis truly is poised to take a leadership position in life sciences nationally and globally. It’s a great time to make big things happen here, and I’m excited to be part of it,” says Janoski.

BioGenerator is a non-profit that facilitates the formation of plant & life science companies in St. Louis.

PREMIER BANK PROMOTES HARRELL, HIRES COHEN

Pamela S. Harrell has been promoted to president of Premier Bank’s Lake Saint Louis Banking Center. She has worked for Premier Bank as vice president of commercial lending since 2003.

Peter Cohen has been named vice president of banking services and cash management in the St. Peters Banking Center. He has nine years of banking experience in treasury and cash management.

AMEREN ELECTS SOBULE VP AND DEPUTY GENERAL COUNSEL

Laura A. Schumacher has joined First Bank as senior vice president/director of internal audit at the bank’s Hazelwood office. Previously she worked as an accountant with BKD LLP in St. Louis.

Patricia R. Pettey has been promoted to vice president and business banking officer of First Bank’s Business Resource Group. She has seven years of experience in banking and previously worked as a small business loan specialist at a Missouri CDC/EDC.

FOX GALVIN NAMES THREE NEW PARTNERS

Fox Galvin LLC has selected three new partners: Michael P. Downey, Richard B. Korn and Bart C. Sullivan. Downey represents businesses in commercial, environmental, employment and class action litigation. Korn started at Fox Galvin in September 2003 and has represented clients in products liability, medical malpractice, employment, toxic tort and general commercial litigation matters. Sullivan has a background in civil litigation and has tried cases in federal and state courts throughout the Midwest.

BROWN SHOE COMPANY ANNOUNCES SENIOR MANAGEMENT PROMOTIONS

Brown Shoe Company Inc. has promoted Diane M. Sullivan, Andrew M. Rosen and Michael I. Oberlander. Sullivan, who joined the company as president in December 2003, has been named chief operating officer. Rosen has been promoted to executive vice president and continues as chief financial officer. He started at Brown Shoe in 1974 and most recently held the position of senior vice president and chief financial officer. Oberlander has been named senior vice president and will continue as general counsel and corporate secretary. Oberlander has served as Brown Shoe’s vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary since 2000.

ST. ANTHONY’S MEDICAL CENTER NAMES JANIK VP OF PATIENT CARE SERVICES

SLAVENS, KAYIRA AND MATHES JOIN BLACKWELL SANDERS

Kenneth A. Slavens has been named a partner in Blackwell Sanders Peper Martin’s litigation department. Prior to joining Blackwell Sanders, Slavens was a partner with another local firm from 1981 to 2005.

Eric F. Kayira and Danica L. Mathes are new members of the firm’s corporate department. As a partner, Kayira focuses his practice in the areas of entertainment, media and corporate law. Mathes focuses her practice on entertainment and intellectual property law and is also an adjunct professor of entertainment law at Washington University School of Law.

RABBITT, PITZER & SNODGRASS ADDS THREE ASSOCIATES TO ST. LOUIS OFFICE

Matthew A. Brown, Jennifer J. Gerdes and Josh C. Breithaupt have joined Rabbitt, Pitzer & Snodgrass PC as associates. Brown is in the firm’s litigation practice group and focuses on medical malpractice and personal injury. Gerdes and Breithaupt work in the firm’s products liability group. All three employees previously worked at other St. Louis law firms.

ADVANTAGE CAPITAL NAMES DUBUQUE AS PRINCIPAL

Private equity firm Advantage Capital Partners has hired Louis T. Dubuque as a principal in its St. Louis office. He previously spent eight years at US Bank, where he served as a managing director in the capital markets group.

SSM ST. MARY’S SELECTS NEW CEO AND PRESIDENT OF MEDICAL STAFF

William Jennings, a former administrator and chief operating officer for Morton Plant North Bay Hospital in New Port Richey, Fla., has joined SSM St. Mary’s Health Center as executive vice president and chief operating officer. Jennings replaces Sister Susan Scholl, who took over as president of St. Mary’s in November 2005.

Dr. Darren E. Wethers has been named president of the medical staff at St. Mary’s Health Center. Wethers has practiced internal medicine in Granite City, Ill., and served as medical director of the Edgewood Program in Edwardsville, Ill.

CREAGHAN, BEAN JOIN ARMSTRONG TEASDALE

Armstrong Teasdale LLP has hired Beverly A. Creaghan as an attorney in its litigation department. From 1994 to 2000, Creaghan worked as a paralegal at Armstrong Teasdale and assisted with medical malpractice cases. She is also a registered nurse.

Hillary J. Bean has joined the firm’s corporate services department and will focus her practice in real estate and business services. Previously, she worked as an associate in the finance and real estate group of Dechert LLP in New York City.

JOHNSTON JOINS HEALTH INFORMATION TASK FORCE

Earlier this year, Gov. Matt Blunt created the Missouri Healthcare Information Technology Task Force to ensure that healthcare information be readily available to healthcare providers, consumers and public health agencies to make the best healthcare decisions and to improve patient safety by reducing medical errors.

Craig M. Johnston, P. E., RCDD, Director of ZAK SYSTEMS INC., a ZAK COMPANY, was selected as a member to the Health Information Task force Cost Evaluation Work Group. ZAK COMPANIES INC. specializes in design and construction services.

The task force, and their work groups, review the status of healthcare information technology adopted by the state, address issues related to the delivery of healthcare information, identify private resources and public/private partnerships to fund efforts to adopt interoperable health information technology, explore the use of telemedicine and make recommendations for implementation.
