John E. Neal has been named the ninth president of Maryville University of Saint Louis and
succeeds Keith Lovin, who retired in June. Neal has served as president of Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kan., since 2000. Prior to joining Ottawa in 1997, Neal was vice president for institutional advancement at Webster University in St. Louis.
Dan Sparling has been named Maryville University’s new dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Professional Programs. He has been at the university since 1975 and served as interim dean before deciding to become a candidate for the permanent position.
