Description: The new Chesterfield Government Center will
house the citys Police Department, City Council Chambers,
City Clerk and Administrative Offices, the Public Works Department
and the Parks & Recreation Department. It will include a state-of-the-art
detention facility for the Police Department.
The two-and-a-half-story facility is brick with curtain walls at
the rotunda and standing seam sheet metal roofing. The facility
will have a two-story attached parking garage for city vehicles.
The lower level of the garage will provide secure access for police
vehicles transporting prisoners.

Description: The site of the old Brentwood Square retail
center is transforming into a vibrant new lifestyle-shopping complex.
The development will introduce two new retailers to St. Louis
Whole Foods Markets, a natural foods/nutritional products
company and Recreational Equipment Inc. (REI), an outdoor
clothing retailer. Other tenants include: Borders Books Music
& Café, Circuit City, Kinkos,
Organized Living, Pier One and Saint Louis Bread
Company.
Brentwood Square will provide a visually appealing shopping environment
and is being constructed with an attractive combination of brick
and cast stone and glass-dominated storefronts. Retailers will have
a unique architectural design appropriate to their unique individual
merchandising style. There will be extensive landscaping throughout
the center that will complement the high-end architecture and shopping
experience. The Brentwood Square neon sign also will be installed
on top of the main building upon completion. More than 900 parking
spaces will be available at the center, which will have two points
of ingress/egress on Brentwood Boulevard.

Description: SUNCON, Inc. Designers & Builders, of Alton,
Ill., recently began a sanctuary addition for Collinsville 1st Assembly
of God Church.
The project for Collinsville 1stAssembly of God consists of an octagon
addition with a 43-foot ceiling along with renovations to their
present church. The new construction includes two stories, 14,155
on the 1st floor and 6,410 on the 2nd floor. The addition includes
a narthex, a sanctuary that seats 500 on the main floor and 360
in the balcony, offices, conference room, classrooms, nursery and
toddler room, ushers room and coat check. The sanctuary will feature
depressed floor and a large stained glass window above the raised
baptistery. A three-tier choir riser is on the main stage with seating
for 53. Overlooking the sanctuary is a combination control room
and taping booth with a state-of-the-art sound system and theatrical
lighting. A two-story glass atrium is showcased with a freestanding
concrete circular staircase and a fountain that will connect the
existing church. The pastors suite will include an office
area, private study and a full restroom. The exterior finishes consist
of brick to match the existing facility and E.I.F.S. and will have
a fiberglass shingle roof. The existing sanctuary is being converted
into a youth sanctuary/teen center.

Description: Childgarden CDC, a center that provides comprehensive
early child development services and early intervention services
to children with special needs and their families, recently opened
the doors at their new facility. The new facility represents a joint
venture between Easter Seals Society of Missouri and St. Louis Association
for Retarded Citizens (St. Louis ARC). Oculus Inc. got involved
with Childgarden and The St. Louis ARC nearly two years ago, lending
expertise on a pro-bono basis. These services included: identifying
current and future needs of the school, meeting with parents and
staff to collect and analyze programming data, assisting with direction
setting for the schools current and future mission, and incorporating
the revised mission into their future facility needs. Upon acquisition
of the new site, Oculus was retained as architect/ interior designer.
A new building entry addition provides convenient child drop-off
and pick-up and accommodates the addition of an elevator. Interior
spaces are positioned along a sweeping curved interior corridor
linked to a pair of landscaped playgrounds. The use of a unique
color scheme in each classroom helps children identify their room
locations. The new space also features a large interior play area
to function as a year-round space for play and exercise and as a
gathering space for center-wide activities supporting Childgardens
family-centered culture. A new parents lounge gives parents
a place to confer with staff and tap reference materials available
on child development.

Description: A three-story Class A office building that presents
a strong corporate image. Bookend stair towers and a triangular
reflective glass canopy that extends above the main entrance will
define the front elevation. In keeping with the architectural theme
of Fairview Executive Park, the exterior will transition from a
gray brick finish on the first floor to warm gray stucco on upper
floors, culminating in a cornice at the top of the building.
Ribbon windows with gray reflective glass panels and glistening
black mullions will mark the top two floors, with gray reflective
punched windows to be found on the first floor. The main lobby draws
in the exterior earth tones within porcelain tile pavers. Sconce
lighting and ornamental pendant light fixtures provide soft illumination.
