126th Air Refueling Wing Relocation

Description: Under BRAC-96, the headquarters for the Illinois
Air National Guard relocated from the O’Hare International Airport
in Chicago to Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Burns & McDonnell was responsible
for the complete engineering and design of the Jet Fuel Storage
Complex, Aircraft Parking Apron and T-9 Hush House to support 11
KC-135 refueling tankers.
The Jet Fuel Storage Complex included a 1,200 gpm, Type III (Philips)
constant pressure JP-8 hydrant refueling system with two 5,000-barrel
aboveground welded steel fuel storage tanks, two 600-gpm issue pumps,
two truck transport unloading stations, one station for loading
an R-11 refueller, a 4,000-gallon below ground product recovery
tank, a 1,650-square-foot POL building, enclosed pumphouse, and
piping connections and appurtenances to the bulk fuel receiving
system and fuel supply/return piping interconnections for a Type
III refueling system, controls, fire protection and detection systems,
leak detection system, grounding and electrical distribution systems
and cathodic protection systems.
The aircraft-parking apron included 103,000 square yards of structural
concrete pavement to park and taxi 11 KC-135 or similar sized aircraft.
Pavement design conforms to FAA and Military standards.
Utility systems include a storm-water system with oil water separators
and storage tank for an aircraft washrack with recovery, containment
and treatment distribution system. Electrical support systems include
apron lighting, taxiway edge lighting, signage and fixed ground
power pits.
The T-9 Hush House used to test engines, included site utilities
structural foundations, fuel supply systems, water supply and fire
protection system, electrical distribution and communication system.

Description: This project is an integral part of the growing
complex owned by A.G. Edwards near Jefferson and Market Street in
downtown St. Louis. Construction began in November 1999 with earthwork
and drilled piers. When completed in October 2001, the post-tensioned
structure will have more than 2,300 parking spaces. Approximately
10,600 cubic yards of concrete will be placed in the walls and columns,
and more than 22,000 cubic yards of concrete will be placed in the
decks and slab on grade. The footprint of the garage is approximately
129,862-square-feet and stands approximately 83' 2" tall. The
$20 million garage project is the vision of Raymond E. Maritz &
Sons, Inc. and includes such amenities as a plaza and a traffic
signal light on Market Street.

Description: American Water Works Co., Inc., the largest
publicly traded water service provider in the United States, is
the first tenant to commit to Alton Center Business Park. The center
will handle service calls, billing and collections for the companys
10 million customers in 23 states.
The Alton Center I building that will host American Water Works
has been renovated for multi-tenant use and has approximately 400,000
square feet remaining available for lease. Additionally, more than
one million square feet of dilapidated building have been razed
in the past six months, creating approximately 100 acres for new
development. Norfolk Southern Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad
serve the business park, which is also accessible to the Mississippi
River.

Description: The project consists of several phases, beginning with
complete remodeling inside and out of an existing steel/masonry
building for Bass Pro Shops signature rustic woodlands image
with sloped standing seam and metal framed roof elements, massive
gable structures, log and timber frame look supported by massive
stone columns.
Rataj-Krueger Architects worked in conjunction with Bass Pro Shops
team of designers, the developer, general contractor and City officials
to develop the final dynamic new appearance for the exterior of
the Sportsmans Warehouse that will act as the design emphasis
throughout the mall. The rustic outdoor theme will be carried through
to every detail of the malls renovation with areas of running
water streams, rustic stone bases for directional signage and site
lighting, abundant landscaping and future walking paths.
The revitalization of the 34-acre Mark Twain Mall includes renovation
of approximately 154,000 square feet of existing retail and design
and construction of more than 120,000 square feet of new retail
space. The redesign of the existing shopping center facade as well
as the design of the new retail space will incorporate the rustic
new image of the Bass Pro Shop.

Description: The Anheuser-Busch Employees Credit Union
is a two-story addition to the north side of the existing Lynch
Street building and extensive interior renovation, including construction
of an atrium entrance off the existing west parking lot. Phased
construction will minimize disruption while additional administrative
offices are added and information systems support is expanded in
the two-story brick building. The credit unions retail lobby
and service areas will be gutted and modernized to accommodate new
financial merchandising concepts.
