THE REGIONAL BUSINESS COUNCIL
Investing in the Region
The
Regional Business Council, made up of executives from major
large- to medium-size regional companies, is dedicated to increasing
the number of businesspersons involved in and investing in regional
growth.
Harry Fabick, president of Fabick Companies, Sees Civic Engagement
as a Family Commitment
The
Fabick family’s long history of community involvement began
decades ago on Christmas Day when the family started a tradition
of bringing presents to the children at the Hessoun Orphanage
in Fenton. Three generations later, the Fabick’s generous spirit
continues. Fabick Companies, under the leadership of President
Harry Fabick, still provides support and employment opportunities
to former residents of the Hessoun Orphanage, as well as supporting
other children’s organizations in the St. Louis area.
Fabick family and employees have chosen Cardinal Glennon
Children’s Hospital as a major recipient of their charitable
efforts. This includes various fund raising activities such
as, “Dunk the Management Team” and employee barbecues, as well
as the interdepartmental challenge for 100% participation in
Glennon’s annual drive for the St. Louis Cord Blood Bank. Their
partnership reminds Fabick of a quote from Dr. Charles Southerland,
which is synonymous with the efforts and commitment of Glennon,
“Nobody stands taller than he who stoops over to help a child.”
In addition, Fabick Companies reaches out to several other organizations,
including the Boy’s Club, St. Patrick Center, Harris
House and the MS Bike-A-Thon. When Fabick was asked
why his company challenges its employees to be involved in the
community, he simply responds, “We have always received more
than we could ever give back, as a family and as a company.”
Fabick Companies provides heavy equipment throughout Illinois
and Missouri, and has provided equipment on every major pipeline
project in the free world. Fabick Companies has also been recognized
as a leader in its industry and is the only machinery dealer
to earn the coveted “E Star” Award for Excellence in Exports.
Though the family-owned and operated company has earned a national
reputation for top quality products, they are seen as a hometown
company with a heart of gold.
