STLCC BOARD APPOINTS HARRIS AS CHANCELLOR

In November Zelema Harris, Ed.D. was appointed as St. Louis Community College chancellor. Harris was appointed interim chancellor in August following the retirement of Chancellor Henry Shannon.

“The members of the Board of Trustees are extremely pleased to have reached this agreement with Dr. Harris,” said Robert C. Nelson, board president. “We respect Dr. Harris’ leadership and the job she has done to date. We have just what we needed right here—without having to conduct a costly search. This appointment ensures the college will continue to provide a challenging learning environment focused on the needs of our students and the community.”

Harris served as president of Parkland from 1990 through 2006. She previously served as president of Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City, Mo.

MITCHELL NAMED PRESIDENT AND CEO OF FRU-CON CONSTRUCTION

Clement V. (Clem) Mitchell has been named president and CEO of Fru-Con Construction Corp. He joined Fru-Con in 2001 to establish its Eastern regional office in metro Washington, D.C., and has served on the company’s board of directors as executive vice president since 2006.

HUGHES CHOSEN TO LEAD HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION

Tom Hughes, president of T.R. Hughes Inc., has been elected the 74th president of the Home Builders Association of St. Louis and Eastern Missouri. The HBA is a local trade association of more than 1,300 member firms representing the residential construction industry.

RAVEN RECEIVES VERRILL MEDAL FROM PEABODY MUSEUM

Peter Raven, president of the Missouri Botanical Garden, has received the Addison Emery Verrill Medal from the Peabody Museum of Natural History at Yale University. Raven and Harvard environmentalist Edward O. Wilson each received the award for outstanding achievement in the natural sciences. Raven is a world-renowned botanist and authority on plant evolution.

FIRST BANK EXPANDS CORPORATE BANKING TEAM

First Bank has expanded its corporate banking team with the addition of Andy Dawson and Tom Harmon, two senior-level corporate banking executives who previously worked at LaSalle Bank NA. Dawson joined First Bank as president of the corporate banking division, while Harmon has joined as a corporate banking group manager. At LaSalle Bank, Dawson led the St. Louis regional loan production office and Harmon served as the deputy division head within the group.

SSM HEALTH CARE-ST. LOUIS NAMES NEW CEO

SSM Health Care-St. Louis has selected Jim Sanger to take over as CEO, replacing Ronald J. Levy, who left the position in November. Sanger formerly served as president/CEO for St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Inc. in Centralia and Mt. Vernon, Ill., and as regional president/ system vice president of SSM Health Care.

CANNON DESIGN NAMES VAUGHAN VP AND HEALTHCARE PRACTICE MANAGER

Cannon Design has announced that Mark J. Vaughan has joined the firm as vice president and healthcare practice manager. Vaughan has 15 years of business experience and previously served as manager of strategic planning at BJC Healthcare.

WEINSTOCK JOINS DANNA MCKITRICK

Attorney Brian S. Weinstock has joined Danna McKitrick PC as the firm’s newest principal. He also serves as general counsel for two companies, Goralnik Realty and International Lighting Manufacturing Co.

LDI PHARMACY BENEFIT SERVICES NAMES NEW CEO

St. Louis-based LDI Pharmacy Benefit Services has named Joseph M. McHugh CEO. McHugh most recently worked at Nordyne Inc. as vice president of finance and chief financial officer.

CONBOY NAMED VP AT WINNING TECHNOLOGIES

Winning Technologies, an information technology consulting firm based in O’Fallon, Mo., has hired Tom Conboy as vice president of sales and product development. Conboy has been named a partner in Lingo LLC, the telecommunications products and services division of Winning Technologies. Conboy has also served in management positions with XO Communications, NuVox Communications, and most recently with Covad Communications.

BUCHEK PROMOTED AT E.M. HARRIS CONSTRUCTION COMPANY

Kevin Buchek has been promoted to executive vice president of E.M. Harris Construction Company. In addition to his new role, Buchek also serves as a project manager and general counsel for Capital Consultants Inc.

MILLER NAMED PARTNER AT MCGLADREY & PULLEN

McGladrey & Pullen LLP has named Greg Miller of the firm’s Peoria office as its newest partner. Miller joined the firm in 1997 and has 25 years of audit experience.

INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL PICKS COLEMAN FOR COMMITTEE CHAIR

The board of directors of the International Economic Development Council elected Denny Coleman, president and CEO of the St. Louis County Economic Council, as committee chair for planning and business development. Coleman also serves on the council’s governance committee.

GREGORY NAMED VP OF GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT AT SSM DEPAUL HEALTH CENTER

Sean Gregory has been named vice president of growth and development for SSM DePaul Health Center. He joins DePaul from SSM Health Care-St. Louis, where he served as area director of strategy and business development for SSM Rehab and SSM Behavioral Health Services.

EMS HIRED AS VP AND COMMERCIAL LENDER AT FRONTENAC BANK

Mary Ems has been hired as vice president and commercial lender at Frontenac Bank. With 20 years of experience in banking, Ems will be responsible for new business development and existing portfolio management.

BROSKA JOINS NEWGROUND AS DIVISION VP

NewGround has appointed Jay Broska as division vice president for the Western region of the United States. Prior to joining NewGround, Broska was an account executive at BrandPartners.

SORAGHAN NAMED PRESIDENT OF MISSOURI VENTURE FORUM

Attorney Joseph Soraghan, a principal at Danna McKitrick, has been named president of the Missouri Venture Forum, an organization that helps entrepreneurs meet potential investors and advisors. He is a founding member of the organization and filed the incorporation documents in 1984.

SISTERS OF MERCY HEALTH SYSTEM NAMES KINSLOW VP OF HUMAN RESOURCES

The Sisters of Mercy Health System has named Anthony (Tony) Kinslow vice president of human resources. Prior to joining Mercy, Kinslow served as vice president of human resources for Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

AAIM ANNOUNCES ADDITION OF TWO NEW STAFF MEMBERS

GeGe Mix has joined AAIM as vice president, membership and marketing, and Andi Hall has been named an account executive in the St. Louis office. Mix formerly worked at the Better Business Bureau. Hall previously served as vice president of planning and operations for Maritz Inc.
