SUTTLE MINDLIN’S DOLCE VITA PORTO FEATURED
IN HONG KONG’S HINGE MAGAZINE
Dolce Vita Porto, an award-winning mixed-use development located
in Porto, Portugal, has been featured in Hinge, an international
architecture and design magazine published in Hong Kong. St.
Louis-based Suttle Mindlin designed the 1.7-million-square-foot
development with a retail atrium, hotel tower, condominium tower,
hypermarket, exhibition hall and structured parking. The landmark
project, now fully leased, won the 2007 ICSC European Design
Award.
CLAYCO RANKS NO. 10 AMONG TOP GREEN
CONTRACTORS
Clayco has ranked No. 10 on Engineering News-Record’s
first-ever ranking of Top 50 Green Contractors, published in
the Top 400 Contractors Sourcebook for 2007.
The list ranks contractors based on 2006 revenue from projects
that were either registered or certified with a major third-party
environmental standards or ratings group. Clayco’s ranking was
based on $210 million in sustainable project revenue, which
comprised 33 percent of the company’s total revenue.
Clayco also ranked in two other categories in the sourcebook:
No. 3 on the Top 20 in Distribution and Warehouses list and
No. 11 on the Top 25 in Commercial Offices list. On the original
Top 400 Contractors list, Clayco ranked No. 80.
ENGINEERING NEWS-RECORD RANKS
WALTON CONSTRUCTION AMONG NATION’S TOP 100 CONTRACTORS
Walton Construction has been ranked No. 61 on Engineering
News-Record’s Top 400 Contractors list for 2007. Nationwide,
the firm posted $752 million in revenue for 2006 and secured
$632 million in new contracts. In St. Louis, the firm’s revenue
increased from $80 million in 2005 to $146 million in 2006.
Walton’s St. Louis projects include the Ameristar Casino St.
Charles expansion, the Hazelwood School District renovation
and additions, and the St. Peters Rec-Plex expansion.
SCHEIPETER CONSTRUCTION NAMED A TOP
500 REMODELER BY QUALIFIED REMODELER MAGAZINE
Qualified Remodeler magazine named S.W. Scheipeter Construction
one of its Top 500 remodelers for the second consecutive year.
The trade publication’s 2007 list includes the nation’s top
design/build, full-service and specialty companies in the construction
remodeling business.
Scheipeter, a residential remodeling company based in Webster
Groves, Mo., has been honored previously with seven Homer Awards
from the Home Builders Association of Greater St. Louis and
Eastern Missouri and a national 2006 Chrysalis Award.
ARGENT CAPITAL’S FINERTY TAPPED FOR
WALL STREET JOURNAL ARTICLE
In The Wall Street Journal’s Oct. 15, 2007, issue, reporter
E.S. Browning tapped into the expertise of Argent Capital Management
for a story comparing today’s stock market with the one that
plummeted 508 points (a 22.5 percent loss) on Oct. 19, 1987,
during the worst one-day percentage drop in history. Browning
interviewed Argent Chairman Steve Finerty for a front-page story
titled “Exorcising Ghosts of Octobers Past.”
“The disaster in 1987 was different than others, because it
happened so fast. It was hard to know how far the tentacles
were going to reach,” says Finerty in the article. “Of course,
in 1987, after three or four months, it was ancient history.
I don’t think it is going to be that way this time, but you
never know. Things can change fast.”
BUCKINGHAM FAMILY OF FINANCIAL SERVICES
LANDS ON INC. 5000
The Buckingham Family of Financial Services appeared on the
Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in the
country for 2007. The company ranked No. 98 with $40.1 million
in revenue and 151.4 percent growth from 2003 to 2006. This
is the first year that Inc. has expanded the list from 500 to
5000, offering a deeper look into the country’s most dynamic
private companies.
KPMG AND RSM MCGLADREY HONORED AMONG
WORKING MOTHER’S 100 BEST COMPANIES
Accounting firms KPMG LLP and RSM McGladrey have been named
on the 100 Best Companies list by Working Mother magazine.
This is KPMG’s 11th time on the list and RSM’s second consecutive
appearance.
“Being a great place to work means giving employees plenty of
ways to customize their schedules,” the magazine noted about
KPMG. “Staffers at this accounting firm can flex their hours,
work from home or opt for compressed workweeks—and more than
65 percent of them do.”
With respect to RSM McGladrey, the magazine noted that “Employees
who want to be with their kids or pursue a personal interest
full-time and rejoin the company later can do so. The FlexCareer
program enables staffers to take a personal leave of up to five
years, with the company subsidizing continuing professional
education so they can maintain their licenses and keep their
skills up to date.”

BY INSTITUTIONAL INVESTOR’S BENCHMARK: LITIGATION

MSNBC FEATURES LOGAN COLLEGE OF CHIROPRACTIC
CAMPUS AS ONE OF MOST BEAUTIFUL IN AMERICA
Logan College of Chiropractic’s campus in Chesterfield, Mo.,
has been selected as an editor’s pick in MSNBC’s slideshow of
America’s prettiest college campuses, which featured photos
of college campuses submitted by readers. Logan College’s 112-acre
hilltop campus is the only Missouri college or university and
the only chiropractic college to make the MSNBC list.
Logan College recently completed a $22.5 million capital improvement
project that included the development of the William D. Purser
Center, a learning and business conference facility. The Purser
project also involved other campus enhancements that included
a new student plaza with a central fountain, enhanced entrances,
improved pedestrian walkways, upgraded roadways and additional
student parking.
STANDING PARTNERSHIP’S LACKEY NAMED
A FINALIST FOR INTERNATIONAL AGENCY EXECUTIVE OF THE YEAR AWARD
Melissa Lackey, senior vice president and CEO of Standing Partnership,
has been named one of four finalists for Agency Executive of
the Year by PR News, a leading trade publication.
Lackey is the only St. Louis-area professional among the 53
PR People Awards finalists. The international competition honors
executives in the communications, marketing and public relations
industries. Nominations are judged by a panel of public relations
professionals and staff from PR News.
Since 2004, Lackey has led Standing Partnership in doubling
revenues with significant profit growth. With revenue of $3.5
million in 2006, Standing was the fastest-growing public relations
firm in Missouri, according to Inc. magazine.
UNIGROUP AND GRAYBAR NAMED LEADING TECHNOLOGY
INNOVATORS
Both Graybar and UniGroup appeared on the 2007 InformationWeek
500 list of the most innovative users of information technology
in the United States. In its fifth consecutive appearance on
the list, Graybar broke through the Top 100 to rank No. 88.
The company also appeared in the “20 Great Ideas” section for
its use of cell phones in a wireless delivery tracking system.
UniGroup ranked No. 137 in its seventh consecutive year on the
list. The InformationWeek 500 tracks the technology practices
of the nation’s most innovative companies and spans 21 industries.
