Welcome to the 2007 edition of “Who’s Who, What’s What in St. Louis.” The “Who’s Who” section of this annual publication includes a listing of the RCGA’s board and board leadership. It has a full staff listing, as well as backgrounders on our management staff.

The “Who’s Who” section also includes key council and volunteer leadership in the form of the Public Policy Council, Forward Metro St. Louis, Private Sector Infrastructure Council, and the Environmental Council. This section also includes RCGA economic development leadership: the Greater St. Louis Inc. Board of Trustees, our Economic Development Investors, and the Economic Development Network.

The “What’s What” section once again includes a comprehensive set of updated regional facts and figures, highlighting everything from population and demographic information to education. Plus the section includes an overview of the region’s workforce, business environment, real estate, transportation, utilities, cost of living, taxes and a wide variety of quality of life attributes.

Finally, the “What’s What” section includes the 2007 Legislative Guide, outlining Missouri, Illinois and Federal priorities established by the RCGA board, as well as a reference guide for Missouri and Illinois legislators, and our Congressional delegation.

In addition to the annual “Who’s Who, What’s What” reference guide, this 328-page special edition of St. Louis Commerce Magazine includes a timely update on the various aspects of our regional branding efforts. Having completed the development of the regional brand, St. Louis: Perfectly Centered, Remarkably Connected, in late 2005, 2006 represented the first full year of implementation of the brand through very active National Media Relations and National and Regional Advertising efforts. The results have been extremely impressive with over 140 million St. Louis media and advertising impressions, and even more importantly, a more than doubling of live prospects in the economic development pipeline.

2007 promises to be a very productive year, with the kind of deal flow we had ending 2006—translating into new jobs and new investments for the region. At the close of the year, these 62 deals in the pipeline represented a collective 10,942 potential new jobs and $3,271,245,000 in prospective new capital investment in the region.

We plan for another very proactive legislative program in 2007. Moreover, infrastructure certainly promises to be a focal point, with the hope for a successful conclusion to funding the new Mississippi River Bridge and the beginning of more than a half of billion dollars of new investment in reconstructing Highway 40. We plan to continue promoting the long term transportation funding needs for the St. Louis region as well.

We hope you enjoy reading this special issue of St. Louis Commerce Magazine, and will find it to be a useful reference for the year ahead. As always, please send your comments and suggestions to us at dfleming@stlrcga.org.
