The cost of living in St. Louis is the 2nd lowest among the 20 largest
metropolitan areas in the U.S. The popular ACCRA index which measures
costs of living for all metropolitan areas nationwide reported that
in the 3rd Quarter of 2005, St. Louis ranks well amongst the other
top 20 metropolitan areas, as shown below.

St. Louis has the third lowest housing cost of the top 20 largest
metropolitan markets for middle management style housing, according
to the annual Coldwell Banker Home Price Index study.
U.S. Census reports the median home value in 2004 was $151,366 compared
to St. Louis MSA median home value of $134,295. 2005 Coldwell Banker
U.S. Average is $401,767 compared to St. Louis average price of
$254,700.
