Cost of Living


St. Louis has the seventh lowest cost of living among the top 20 metropolitan areas.


ACCRA, the American Chamber of Commerce Researchers Association, produces a quarterly cost-of-living index used to measure the cost of living among metropolitan areas. (U.S. Average =100.0)


Greater St. Louis offers a wide variety of housing to choose from at affordable prices. The median home price is $126,000. A typical management transferee home—a 2,200-square-foot home with four bedrooms, 2.5 baths, a family room and two-car garage—can be purchased at an average price of $181,933.
