ADVERTORIAL

Leadership Circle Profile
The RCGA’s Leadership Circle exists to create added membership value by providing a unique and invigorating forum to connect executives of small, medium and large companies to the broad base of influential leaders in the St. Louis region.

Union Planters Bank

With 786 branches and nearly 1,000 ATMs in 12 states, Union Planters Bank has what it takes to carry out our mission: to consistently and responsively deliver the highest quality financial services by meeting the needs of our clients, delivering superior profit to our shareholders, providing opportunities for growth and fulfillment for all associates, and making a difference in our communities. These goals are shared by senior management and 12,000 associates.

To serve both traditional and nontraditional banking customers, Union Planters Bank provides a range of financial services including consumer, commercial, and corporate lending; retail banking; and additional services provided by full-service financial institutions.

Customers can access their accounts at a local branch or ATM or via telephone or the Internet. Whether it’s checking accounts, savings accounts, short- or long-term investments, personal loans, or home loans, we’re doing everything we can to serve our customers today—and into the future.

Business banking services from Union Planters are designed to help any size business grow. Our full-service Commercial Lending Department provides loans, lines of credit, and letters of credit tailored to meet specific business needs. Union Planters Bank offers small business financing through the Small Business Administration and Rural Development guaranteed loan programs. Through the dedication of our lenders, Union Planters Bank has been named one of the nation’s top five small-business-friendly lenders for the third consecutive year. Other business banking services range from deposit services and cash management to qualified retirement plans.

If you need help preserving and managing your personal and family finances more effectively, Union Planters Trust and Investment Management offers customers a full range of personal trust, investment management, and retirement plan services.

Additional services include mortgage origination and servicing, the issuance of debit cards, the offering of credit cards, full-service and discount brokerage, and the sale of annuities and bank-eligible insurance products.

Consumers have many choices today. That’s why our vision is to be the trusted advisor of choice, delivering financial solutions better than anyone else.

UMB

One day, you’ll get to a point in your life or career when making the right financial choices becomes a higher priority than ever before—this is when you’ll feel right at home with UMB Bank. And it’s at these crucial times that UMB Bank wants to be there to help you make your goals a reality with the right financial tools and the right financial savvy.

Welcome to UMB. This is how we want you to feel when you walk into one of our bank locations, visit with one of our commercial calling officers, call us, or log on to umb.com… welcome. Since 1913, UMB has served communities across the Midwest with outstanding customer service, innovation and sound banking principles. We strive to be a trusted guide that helps our customers reach their financial goals. And to achieve this, we welcome our customers into our world as we would welcome a friend into our home.

UMB Bank is a full-service financial company that offers a wide range of products for individuals and organizations including: traditional banking services, loans, financial planning, investments, trust and wealth management, insurance, annuities, brokerage services and treasury management.

The story of UMB Bank and its holding company, UMB Financial Corporation, is a success story in the best tradition of American free enterprise. From a storefront bank in Kansas City, Mo., with first-day deposits of $1,100, it has grown to a multi-bank institution with assets of more than $7.3 billion and locations throughout Missouri, Illinois, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma and Nebraska. Today, all of our affiliate banks continue to practice the kind of community involvement that has resulted in our growth, not only as a financial institution, but also as a responsible community leader.

Size is only one measure of UMB’s success, and the Company’s earnings have reflected outstanding growth over the years. We are proud of our history and our reputation as bankers who are dynamic enough to take advantage of opportunities, innovative enough to act on changing customer needs and traditional enough to emphasize quality above all else.

In our decades of experience we’ve learned that it’s easy for a financial organization to offer generic banking products, but more challenging and more rewarding to be a trusted financial partner and guide. So this is where UMB has found its niche—not just providing financial products, but also providing the right products and services for each person’s or organization’s needs and providing the guidance and expertise to support those products.

So if you or your business is ready for a trusted guide that can help you reach financial success, welcome to UMB.

Korte Company

It is no coincidence that The Korte Company, a design-build commercial construction firm, is having the best year in its 43-year history. Under the stewardship and guidance of new president and CEO Todd J. Korte, the company’s annual volume has grown by almost $100 million to an estimated $240 million from last year. At 34 years old, Todd’s age belies a wealth of experience in business, leadership, and community service. Growing up, he watched as his father grew The Korte Company from a local to a regional and, ultimately, to a national construction powerhouse. All with a solid philosophy of: “Build it better, faster and less expensively.”

Todd has never been afraid to get his hands dirty. He began working in the Korte warehouse at age 17. After college, he spent several years working for another company out of state to see how other companies did business. Then, in 1994, he realized it was time to rejoin the family business. He spent several years enhancing his business acumen (and earning an MBA from Washington University in 1997) by working as a Project Engineer, Estimator, member of the Special Services Team, Project Manager and Vice President before being named President and CEO in 2001.

As President and CEO, Todd is responsible for the overall management and direction of The Korte Company. Assuming the leadership of this company was the natural next step to his career, but Todd defines himself with a broader definition that includes significant social and community service. He has the personal vision and drive to seek out organizations and institutions that address pressing issues, such as underprivileged youth, education, and responsible business.

Todd has been an active member of a wide variety of community groups, among them:

  • Young Presidents Organization (2001-Active)
  • Liberty Mutual Insurance Advisory Board (2000-Active)
  • FOCUS St. Louis Board of Directors (2000-Active)
  • Business Education Alliance — Highland Community Unit School (2000-Active)
  • Construction Advisory Council for Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (1999-Active)
  • Young Zoo Friends, St. Louis Zoo (1999-2001)
  • United Missouri Bank Advisory Board, St. Louis (1999-Active)
  • Jackie Joyner-Kersee Association Youth Center Foundation Board of Directors (2000)
  • Highland Manufacturers Association, Former President (1999-2000)
  • Young Professionals Group (1996-1998)
  • Experience St. Louis (1994)
  • Urban League of St. Louis (2001-Active)
  • Red Cross of St. Louis (2001-Active)
Todd is dedicated to developing an ever-expanding network of local, regional and national contacts as he fuses his professional and personal communities to their mutual benefit.
