The RCGA
teams up with other organizations to bring the best programs to
its members.
In addition to the many programs organized by the RCGA, there
are numerous other events the RCGA sponsors. This support allows
the RCGA to be involved in a greater number of activities that
are of interest to its members. A sampling of the events the RCGA
traditionally co-sponsors is listed below:
- Bridge
of Friendship dinner fosters ties between the business
and military communities. For the past eight years, the
people of metropolitan St. Louis have gathered together
with senior leadership of Scott Air Force Base to build
a bridge of friendship. For information, call 314/429-7702.
- The
Economic Forecast, presented by the Civic Entrepreneurs
Organization, gives the community the opportunity to hear
from a forum of economic experts. In conjunction with
this luncheon, an Economic Forecast Study was given to
more than 1,200 St. Louis area businesses. For more information,

- The
Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards recognize and honor
entrepreneurial spirit. Founded and produced by Ernst
& Young LLP, the competition is held both regionally and
nationally. Awards in 47 major markets are given to owners
and managers who have demonstrated excellence and extraordinary
success in areas such as innovation, financial performance
and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.

- Experience
St. Louis is an orientation program, for executives
from all sectors of the community, that helps new arrivals
and their significant others gain an in-depth knowledge
of the community in a short period of time. The program
is sponsored by FOCUS St. Louis. Call 314/622-1250 for

- First
Tuesday
is a forum for regional high-tech entrepreneurs to connect
with venture capitalists. It is presented by Sonnenschein
Nath & Rosenthal, at a different location the first Tuesday
of each month and the RCGA is one of the sponsors. An
international program, “First Tuesday” is held in more
than 80 cities throughout the nation and Europe. The next

- InvestMidwest
venture capital forum provides access to capital for
emerging, privately held companies and promotes greater
entrepreneurship, business growth and expansion in the
region. This year’s event, May 9 and 10, will be held
at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kansas City. The RCGA, Missouri
Venture Forum and Technology Gateway Alliance present

- Salute
to Excellence spotlights the region’s successful African-American
entrepreneurs. The RCGA co-sponsored this inaugural event
with the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis and the
St. Louis American Foundation. Call 314/535-1835.
- St.
Louis Regional FAST 50 Technology Awards, presented
by the RCGA and Deloitte & Touche LLP, recognize the region’s
50 fastest growing high-tech companies that develop and/or
provide technology-based products or services. Growth
rates are based on percentage growth over 5 years. Participants
can be public or private, and encompass all industry segments,
including biotechnology, semiconductors, Internet, software
and communications. Nominations are typically due in May
and the award ceremony is held in September at the Science

- St.
Louis Speakers Series, presented by Maryville University,
gives audiences the opportunity to see and hear live speakers.
The new series, which takes place at Powell Symphony Hall,
hosts seven famous leaders, all of whom help shape world

- Technology
Forecast, presented by the Civic Entrepreneurs Organization,
is a forum of technology experts who engage the community
in learning about technology as well as the future of
the workplace. For more information on the event to be

- World
Agricultural Congress, held bi-annually by the World
Agricultural Forum, a nonprofit organization that serves
as the only neutral venue for global dialogue about issues
critical to the supply of food, fiber and fuel to the
world’s growing population in an environmentally sustainable

- World
Trade Week-The RCGA as part of the St. Louis Regional
International Partnership participates in this annual
business conference. This year the event will be held

for Newcomers

Experience
St. Louis is an orientation program that helps new arrivals
and their significant others gain an in-depth knowledge of
the community. It is sponsored by FOCUS St. Louis, the region’s
citizens’ league and leadership development group, in partnership
with the RCGA.
Participants attend five sessions over the course of two months,
focusing on:
History, Power, and Politics A sketch of St. Louis’ history,
political structure, and power, and the role that major institutions
play in the life of the St. Louis region.
St. Louis Regional Economy A look at the regional economy—what
is happening and what needs to happen.
Recreation, Culture, and Entertainment An overview of what
the community has to offer in the areas of recreation, cultural
activities, entertainment and restaurants.
Major Issues Facing The Region Some of the most important
issues facing the community, such as education, environmental
issues, regional growth and public transportation will be
addressed.
St. Louis Sites and Sounds A tour of neighborhoods and sites
specially designed for the participants.
