HOK EARNS DESIGN AWARD FOR OKLAHOMA RESEARCH CENTER



American School & University magazine has awarded architectural firm HOK a Silver Citation Award for its interior design work on the Stephenson Research and Technology Center at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla. Award-winning projects were featured in the magazine’s 2005 Educational Interiors Showcase in the August 2005 issue.

The award acknowledges HOK’s outstanding design of the $20 million laboratory and office facility. The jury composed of members of the American Institute of Architects and school administrators commented that the project showed “great use of transparency to allow research and communication to come together.”

The two-story, 93,000-square-foot Stephenson facility houses a human genome sequencing project, bioinformatics and robotics. The design creates flexible space and encourages interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers.

UMSL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION COLLEGE RANKS AMONG NATION’S BEST


The Princeton Review has included the College of Business Administration at the University of Missouri-St. Louis in the 2006 edition of its Best 237 Business Schools, a guide to the top business schools in the country.

The guide is based on The Princeton Review’s surveys of more than 16,000 students at 237 business schools and on institutional data obtained from those schools. The surveys asked students to rate their schools on several topics and to report on their experiences at them.

University of Missouri-St. Louis’ College of Business Administration offers bachelor’s degrees and master’s degrees in various areas of study, including a professional master’s of business administration online curriculum and a traditional program.

BLACKWELL SANDERS ATTORNEYS NAMED AMONG BEST IN AMERICA

Thirteen attorneys from Blackwell Sanders Peper Martin have been listed in the 2006 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. In total, the law firm has 39 attorneys that made the list from its offices in Kansas City, St. Louis and Springfield, Mo., and Omaha, Neb.

The law firm’s St. Louis-based attorneys included in the guide are Craig S. Biesterfeld, Robert O. Hetlage, Bradley S. Hiles, Michael A. Kahn, Jeffery J. Kalinowski, Mark R. Leuchtmann, John P. McNearney, Kathleen T. Mueller, Alan S. Nemes, Matthew G. Perlow, John R. Short, Robert J. Tomaso and David A. Warfield.

The Best Lawyers in America guide represents 57 specialties and is compiled through an exhaustive peer-review survey in which thousands of top lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers. The 2006 edition is based on more than 415,000 detailed evaluations.

UNIGROUP INC. VAN LINES CHOSEN AMONG TOP MOTOR CARRIERS


United Van Lines and Mayflower Transit, subsidiaries of UniGroup Inc., have been named to the Top 100 Motor Carriers list by Inbound Logistics magazine. The companies were chosen by the magazine’s editors from more than 300 motor carriers, including larger, well known companies and smaller niche providers. The main criterion was a company’s ability to provide solutions that best meet the needs of the more than 200,000 logistics professionals who read the magazine.

“Given the growing acceptance of inbound practices, and the complexity of better matching supply to demand, it’s impressive to see United Van Lines and Mayflower Transit providing the kinds of solutions Inbound Logistics readers need,” stated Felecia Stratton, editor of Inbound Logistics.

SSM HEALTH CARE’S PANICOLA NAMED 2005 UP-AND-COMER

Michael Panicola, corporate vice president of ethics for SSM Health Care, has been named to Modern Healthcare Magazine’s 2005 Up & Comers list. Panicola was one of 12 to receive the recognition, which honors rising young managers in the health care industry. The magazine’s editorial staff selected the recipients from 146 nominations.

Panicola, 34, is responsible for ensuring that SSM Health Care’s medical practitioners, administrators and employees are well versed in the complicated ethical issues of Catholic health care and health care in general.

LOCKHART NAMED RISING STAR AMONG MISSOURI LAWYERS

Shari L. Lockhart, an attorney for Evans & Dixon LLC, has been selected as one of the top seven up-and-coming lawyers in Missouri by Missouri Lawyers Weekly, a publication that reports on legal decisions and other news vital to attorneys in the state. The honorees were nominated by colleagues, supervisors, judges and clients based on the impact that they have made on the legal profession. Lockhart joined Evans & Dixon in 2001 and previously worked as an assistant attorney
general in the Missouri attorney general’s office.
