Technology Founder Elected to Civic Progress; Former Arthur Andersen
Partner Named Administrator

Steward, founder and CEO of World Wide Technology, has been
named an active member of Civic Progress, an organization of chief
executives from leading private sector businesses who work together
to improve the quality of community and business life in the St.
Louis region.
In addition, Civic Progress has named John Roberts to become
the organization’s new administrator. Roberts replaces John R. Jordan,
Jr., Civic Progress’ first administrative director, who retired
at the end of 2000 after serving the organization for more than
two years.
Roberts was the managing partner of Arthur Andersen’s St. Louis
office from 1985 to 1993 and of the Mid-South Region from 1993 to
1998. He retired in 1998 after 35 years with the firm. For years,
Roberts has been active in civic affairs. He currently serves on
the boards of Webster University and the Mercantile Library Association.
Steward founded World Wide Technology in 1990. The company provides
an Internet-based business-to-business marketplace for buying and
selling technology products and services. As one of the fastest
growing companies in the St. Louis area, World Wide Technology and
its majority-owned subsidiary, telcobuy.com, had revenues of $413
million in 1999. In June 2000, the company ranked No. 1 on the Black
Enterprise 100, the annual listing of the nation’s largest African-American
owned firms.
Ameren Names Mueller to Vice President
Michael G. Mueller is the new vice president for AmerenEnergy
Fuels and Services Company, the recently formed non-regulated subsidiary
of AmerenEnergy Resources Company. He will report to Gary L. Rainwater,
president of AmerenEnergy Resources.
Mueller joined Ameren UE in 1986 as an engineer in Corporate Planning.
In 1988, he became a fuel buyer in the Fossil Fuel Department and
in 1994 was named senior fuel buyer. Four years later, Mueller became
director of coal trade for Ameren Corporation’s independent energy
marketing affiliate, AmerenEnergy. A year ago Mueller moved to manager
of the Fossil Fuel Department. In addition, for the past two years,
he has served as chairman of the board of the Missouri Central Railroad.
Envision Names New Company President and Vice President to Corporate
Team
Envision, a St. Louis information technology consulting and placement
firm, recently promoted Sherley O’Leary to president and
named Steve Kelly as vice president. Envision chairman Steven
R. Lowry made the announcement after Paul Parent left the company
in August 2000.
As president of Envision, O’Leary will manage sales and marketing,
as well as the technical and financial aspects of the company. In
addition, she will oversee Envision’s branch offices in Austin,
Houston and Phoenix. O’Leary joined Envision in 1998 and previously
served as both St. Louis branch manager and executive vice president
for the company. Prior to joining the firm, O’Leary held positions
with Ajilon and CSD/Computer Systems Development, both located in
New Jersey.
Kelly fills a newly created vice president position to assist in
the day-to-day operations of Envision. He will be responsible for
overseeing human resources, immigrations and operations functions
for all Envision branches. In addition, Kelly will serve as Envision’s
facility security officer for national and government-related contracts.
Previously, Kelly was a management and human resources consultant
and director of human resources for G.A. Sullivan.
Thomas Jefferson Society Dinner Honors Jacob
The Missouri Historical Society bestowed the 2000 Thomas Jefferson
Award to John E. Jacob, executive vice president and chief
communication officer of Anheuser-Busch Companies.
The Award is presented during the annual black tie dinner of the
Thomas Jefferson Society to an individual or individuals who exemplify
the spirit of community service in St. Louis.
Since 1994, honorees have included Sen. John C. Danforth, August
A. Busch III, William H. Danforth, Charles F. Knight, James S. McDonnell
III, and Isadore E. Millstone.
Jacob joined Anheuser-Busch in 1994 and has served on the board
of directors since 1990. He is a member of the company’s Strategy
Committee, which oversees policy and strategic issues for the $13
billion St. Louis-based global corporation. As chief communications
officer and company spokesperson, Jacob directs company communications
activities, domestic and international, including public relations,
corporate and employee communications, alcohol awareness efforts,
and corporate promotions. He is also responsible for the company’s
minority and community outreach efforts, as well as Busch Creative
Services. In addition, Jacob chairs Anheuser-Busch’s charitable
contributions committee and serves on the corporation’s business
practices and environmental health and safety policy committees.
Prior to joining Anheuser-Busch, Jacob was president and CEO of
the National Urban League, a national community-based social service
and advocacy agency with affiliates in more than 100 cities. Earlier
in his career, Jacob ran Urban League offices in Washington, DC,
and San Diego.
His corporate leadership has been matched with civic leadership
throughout his career. Jacob is chairman emeritus of his alma mater,
Howard University. He also has served on numerous organizational
boards including the Legal Aid Society and the National Parks Foundation.
Locally, Jacob is active on several boards such as the St. Louis
Symphony and St. Louis 2004.
Coin Acceptors Appoints VP of Strategic Marketing
Coin Acceptors Inc. (Coinco) has named Parker B. Condie, Jr.
as vice president of strategic marketing. He will develop and direct
Coinco’s long-term growth strategies as well as contribute to financial
planning, new business development, and sales and marketing activities.
Condie joins Coinco following more than seven years with Mallinckrodt
where he served as business director-ultrasound, director of marketing-ultrasound,
director of business development and manager of strategic planning.
Coinco opened in 1957 and is a privately-owned manufacturer of coin
acceptors, coin changers, bill acceptors, control systems and other
component parts for the vending industry.
Partner Communications Adds Two VPs
Partner Communications & Services announced the addition of Dennis
D. Schoeberle as vice president of field operations and R. Kent
Chinowth as vice president of sales.
Schoeberle has more than 35 years of experience in telecommunications
and network engineering. He started at Ameritech/Wisconsin Bell
as a line technician and rose to director of network engineering
during his 25 years with the company. Schoeberle subsequently held
senior engineering management positions at Sierra Telecom, Data-Tel
and Brooks Fiber Properties.
Chinowth joins Partner with more than 13 years experience in telecommunications
and high-tech sales, marketing and customer service. His previous
sales management positions include Sprint PCS, Consolidated Communications
and Southwestern Bell. Most recently, Chinowth was district director
for Sprint PCS’s Tulsa and Oklahoma City markets.
Incorporated in 1998 and privately held, Partner Communications
provides broadband, high-speed Internet, telecommunications, and
related e-commerce and portal services to the apartment communities
in the central U.S.
Logos Board of Directors Elects New Members
David A. Lowenberg and Kathleen M. Zorica have been elected to the
Logos School Board of Directors. Logos is an independent, therapeutic
school serving at-risk adolescents with behavior and learning disorders.
Lowenberg is chief operating officer of Express Scripts and has
been with the company since 1993. Formerly, he was the president
of Healthcare Development Consulting, and Deputy Director of the
Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System.
Zorica, senior vice president/business analysis and product management
of RightCHOICE Managed Care, started her career with Blue Cross
and Blue Shield of Missouri in 1977.
Since its founding in 1970, Logos School has helped more than 1,000
at-risk St. Louis-area teens complete high school.
Metropolitan Design & Building Names VP of Design

Metropolitan Design & Building Co. Inc., a St. Louis-based commercial
and residential design-build firm, announced the addition of Carlos
Mindreau as vice president of design. Mindreau is responsible
for all architectural design, engineering and production aspects
of the design-build process. As head of Metropolitan’s architecture
department, he supervises all commercial, institutional and residential
projects.
Mindreau’s work includes commercial and residential projects in
Missouri and Illinois, and his association with Metropolitan in
various collaborative projects spans many years. He holds a degree
in architecture from the University of Florida and spent time under
the tutelage of internationally renowned architect Paolo Soleri
in Arizona.
Founded in 1981, Metropolitan Design & Building Co. Inc. specializes
in adaptive re-use and renovation construction and has won numerous
national and regional awards for its designs.
First National Bank of St. Louis Appoints New Advisory Board
Members
First National Bank of St. Louis has appointed Dr. Lyle J. Bouck
and Daniel B. Bruns to its advisory board of directors. Both
appointees will serve on the board of the bank’s South County location
at 12244 Tesson Ferry Road.
Dr. Bouck is a retired chiropractor from the South County area,
and is a World War II veteran. He received the Distinguished Service
Cross, one of the U.S. Army’s highest honors. Bruns
is president of Kienstra Enterprises Inc., a ready-mix concrete
supplier in the St. Louis area.
First National Bank of St. Louis is a locally-owned banking institution
with approximately $890 million in assets. The bank has branches
in Clayton, Creve Coeur, Chesterfield, Des Peres, Ladue, O’Fallon,
South County and Wildwood.
Pennekamp Elected Officer of Illinois Development Council

The Illinois Development Council (IDC) has elected James R. Pennekamp
as secretary and treasurer. Pennekamp is currently executive director
of Leadership Council Southwestern Illinois.
In October 1999, Pennekamp joined the board of directors of IDC,
a statewide organization composed of economic development professionals
throughout Illinois. The group works collectively at the state level
to expand the state’s tax base and create and retain employment.
The board consists of 11 members from four designated regions. Pennekamp
is one of two board members representing the central region.
The IDC was one of several groups working with Illinois officials
for passage of Illinois FIRST and the new EDGE incentive program.
Pennekamp believes these programs help spur projects in his region
and throughout the state.
Henderson Named to Head Two Community Boards

Chuck Henderson, a financial advisor with Renaissance Financial,
has been elected to serve as president of two nonprofit organizational
boards, Talking Tapes/Textbooks on Tape, located in St. Louis, and
the Alumni Association of St. Charles High School.
Talking Tapes/Textbooks on Tape has been offering services to individuals
unable to read and comprehend textbooks in a traditional manner
for more than 60 years. Based in St. Louis, the organization provides
tapes to more than 2,000 schools nationwide, serving 200 schools
and 1,000 students in metropolitan St. Louis alone. They also provide
service to corporate America by offering annual reports and other
executive documents on tape for disabled individuals within the
corporations.
The Alumni Association of St. Charles High School, formed in 1992,
allows graduates to participate in school activities and raises
funding for school projects, including scholarship dollars for graduating
seniors. Henderson replaces outgoing president Cindy Loehrer who
led the organization for the past three years.
SSM Health Care Appoints Chief Contracting Officer for Managed
Care Organization

SSM Health Care – St. Louis appointed Lou Rotter to the new
position of regional vice president/chief contracting officer for
SSMHC’s Managed Care Organization (MCO).
Since April 2000, Rotter served as the MCO’s interim president,
as well as vice president for managed care contracting and operations.
Rotter has been with SSM Health Care for 17 years, beginning at
Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.
The MCO’s focus is negotiating and establishing managed care contracts
on behalf of the organization’s 1,400 physicians. As the executive
leader, Rotter will oversee MCO operations as well as develop and
implement MCO contracting strategy.
Three Join Blumenfeld, Kaplan & Sandweiss
Steven Koslovsky, Charles Saulsberry and Steven Schwendemann
have joined as principals of the law firm Blumenfeld, Kaplan & Sandweiss,
P.C. Koslovsky’s expertise is in zoning law and will focus on zoning,
land use and development, as associated litigation for Blumenfeld,
Kaplan & Sandweiss clients. He began his career at Ziercher & Hocker
and became chair of their Litigation Department where he was primarily
responsible for much of the firm’s civil litigation.
Saulsberry, in his nearly 20 years of practice, has served as bond
counsel on the largest single issue of bonds by the City of Chicago
and negotiated more than 50 healthcare financings. He began his
practice in Chicago at Winston & Strawn where he managed the firm’s
public finance practice. Saulsberry came to St. Louis in 1992, when
he joined Thompson Coburn.
Saulsberry was named one of Ten Outstanding Young St. Louisans in
1995 and has served as chairman, board of trustees of SSM DePaul
Health Center.
Schwendemann brings expertise in telecommunications and municipal
law. He is a frequent lecturer and presents seminars on “The Telecommunications
Act of 1996” and “Negotiating Cable Franchises,” in addition to
teaching at Lindenwood College and Saint Louis University School
of Law.
