Amerinet Partners with Children’s Medical Ventures

Amerinet has rolled out a promotion with Children’s Medical Ventures through March 31, 2008, to help Amerinet members save money on infant monitoring equipment.

Monsanto Collaborates with FOSS To Develop Analytical Tools for Soybeans

Monsanto and FOSS A/S are developing tools to measure the linolenic acid content of soybeans to help processors distinguish grain that ultimately will provide food companies an oil that does not require hydrogenation.

This technology, designed to determine that beans meet the criteria for low-linolenic acid content, is being installed at grain elevators and being used in Monsanto’s new Crop Analytics Mobile Labs (CAML) this harvest season. The mobile unit houses Monsanto’s gas chromatography technology and the near-infrared technology using the calibration system developed through the Monsanto-FOSS collaboration.

Covidien and BioSynthema Collaborate on Cancer Therapy Technology

Covidien Ltd. and BioSynthema will partner in developing and commercializing a clinical-stage nuclear medicine therapy for neuroendocrine cancer patients. BioSynthema will use Covidien technology in conjunction with its own technology and proprietary clinical research to further develop a targeted radionuclide therapy product. Covidien will have exclusive marketing rights to the technology.

Using this technology, BioSynthema for over five years has been involved in a clinical therapy study in The Netherlands that has enrolled more than 600 patients. If approved, the technology would provide hope for patients with very limited treatment options.

MoDOT Evaluating Soy-Based Paint Stripes

MoDOT is testing four types of yellow and white soy-based paint for highway striping. Soybean oil replaces some of the petroleum ingredients in paint used for 12-foot test stripes on Route 63 just north of Jefferson City. The stripes run across the roadway from the shoulder to the center stripe to determine how well the paint adheres to pavement, resists tire wear, and withstands the ultimate test: snowplow blades.

MoDOT buys about 1.5 million gallons of water-based paint a year.
