ARCO
BUILDS NEW HG IN SOUTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY FOR TWO CONTRACTORS
The area’s largest commercial flooring contractor is moving to a
new headquarters in south St. Louis County. ARCO Construction Co.
is building a 55,149-square-foot facility for Flooring Systems Inc.
and Titan Contractors Services Inc.
The $2.8 million office/warehouse build-ing is the first phase of
a new 10-acre development at 4130 Meramec Bottom Road. Flooring
Systems will occupy 24,076 square feet for its office, showroom
and ware- house. Titan Contractors is moving into 6,491 square feet
of the building. Meramec Bottom Development LLC is developing the
remaining 24,582 square feet on a speculative basis.
Joining ARCO on the project are Arcturis, interior design; J.R.
Grimes Consulting Engineering Inc., civil engineer; McNealy-Bumberry
Engineering Inc., structural engineer; PayneCrest Electric Inc.,
electrical engineer; ICON Mechanical, mechanical engineer; and Joseph
H. Beetz Plumbing Co.

FINAL
PHASE OF WESTIN HOTEL COMPLETED

Construction Co. has completed the $10.3 million final phase
of the Westin Hotel at 811 Spruce Street in downtown St. Louis.
The project involved transforming a 55,000-square-foot warehouse
at Cupples Station. The first phase of the Westin opened in
March 2001.
Built between 1894 and 1917, Cupples Station is a complex
of 10 vacant warehouses in a four-block area of downtown.
Brinkmann’s work was the final component of a restoration
project that turned four of the warehouses into a 255-room
hotel.
St. Louis-based McCormack Baron & Associates and Los Angeles-based
Sun America Inc. are the developers and owners of the Cupples
Station complex. Upon completion, the $300 million project
is expected to be a mixed-use development.
Joining Brinkmann and Trivers Associates architects on the
Westin was Mesirow Stein Development Services Inc. as program
manager.

RETIREMENT APARTMENT COMMUNITY IN CHESTERFIELD
IS LATEST PROJECT FOR PARIC
Paric Corp. is building a new retirement community on a 13-acre
site at 206 Woods Mill Road in Chesterfield. Known as The Willows
at Brooking Park, the $60 million project is being developed in
phases with the first phase to be completed in mid-2003.
Phase one of The Willows will consist of two buildings with 45 upscale
apartment units, underground parking and a commons area. When completed
the complex, designed by Saur & Associates, will host eight buildings
in a setting reminiscent of an English garden.
Developer is St. Andrew’s Resources for Seniors, a not-for-profit,
faith-based organization that has provided a variety of services
for senior adults since 1961. The Willows is one of 14 communities
in Missouri and Illinois associated with St. Andrew’s. Paric also
built for St. Andrew’s the Cape Albeon complex in Southwest St.
Louis County.
SACHS ELECTRIC MOVES TO NEW CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS
The new corporate headquarters for Sachs Electric Co. is a 94,000-square-foot
complex at 1572 Larkin Williams Road in Fenton, Mo. The move allows
Sachs to consolidate office and warehouse operations in one location.
General contractor TM2 Construction Inc. and architects, ACI Boland
Inc. and Arcturis, created the new headquarters from a total renovation
of a building once occupied by Sensient Technologies Corp., a food
company. Sachs now uses 48,000 square feet of the building as office
space. The 46,000-square-foot warehouse area houses Sachs’ prefabrication
shop and tools as well as its fleet of more than 300 cars and service
trucks.
