Electric Names New CEO, Knight Continues as Chairman

Emerson Electric Co. announced that David Farr replaces
the retiring Charles Knight as the company's CEO.
Knight, who has led Emerson for the past 27 years will continue
as the company's chairman. Prior to this promotion, Farr was
Emerson's senior executive vice president and chief operating
officer.
In addition, Knight says Emerson Electric has formed a new Office
of the Chief Executive, consisting of Farr; James Berges, president;
Charles Peters, who was promoted to senior executive vice president
and e-business leader for Emerson; and Walter Galvin, executive
vice president and chief financial officer.
"This is the perfect time to make this management transition
for several reasons," Knight notes. "First, we have just completed
a strong fiscal 2000, and based on our current outlook, we have
good momentum entering fiscal 2001." He continues, "Second,
our organization is as strong as it has ever been, and the board's
succession process over the past three years has ensured that
we have a young yet experienced management team in place to
lead Emerson forward."
Jones Honored As Allied Tradesperson of the Year
The National Association of Institutional Linen Management (NAILM)
recently honored Robert H. Jones as Allied Tradesperson
of the Year. Jones has been with St. Louis-based Phoenix Textile
since 1984, responsible for $3 million in sales of textiles
and drapery. Jones earned this recognition based on his portfolio
of experience.
NAILM was founded in 1939 and has 1,300 members in the U.S.
The award was initiated in 1981. A panel of professors and professionals
selects three award finalists. Their blind resumes are presented
at the annual NAILM meeting where members place their votes.
Thornhill Named President of Janet McAfee Inc.

Weakley has announced that Ted W. Thornhill has been
named president of the residential real estate company. Weakley,
who founded Janet McAfee Inc. in 1975 and has acted as president
since its inception, will assume the role of chairman of the
board.
Thornhill has been acting as vice president since he joined
the company in 1987. As president, he will be responsible for
daily management of the company's operations.
Thornhill has spent his entire career in the real estate profession.
He became a Missouri real estate broker in 1976 and worked at
Thornhill-Elsaeser Inc. After five years, he became vice president
and in 1985 became president of Thornhill Company Realtors.
Thornhill has played an active role in the St. Louis Association
of Realtors. His positions included: chairman of operations,
chairman of professional standards, treasurer and member of
the board of directors of both the residential and commercial
divisions. Thornhill was president of the board in 1994, chairman
of the board in 1995 and 1996, and continues to serve as a member
of the Board for Mid-America Regional Information Systems (formerly
the St. Louis Multi-Listing Service). His honors include the
Distinguished Service Award from the St. Louis Association of
Realtors in 1992 and Manager of the Year Award in 1993.
Olukotun Joins Biomedical Board

Y. Olukotun, M.D., vice president of Medical and Regulatory
Affairs and Chief Medical Officer with Mallinckrodt, Inc., has
joined the Board of Directors of Biomedical Systems.
A native of Nigeria, Dr. Olukotun began his career as associate
director of the cardiac catheterization lab at the Geisinger
Clinic. He also worked for Pfizer, Inc. and the Bristol-Myers
Squibb Corporation. Prior to joining Mallinckrodt, he served
as vice president for Convatec, a division of Bristol-Myers
Squibb. Dr. Olukotun earned his M.D. from the Albert Einstein
College of Medicine and his M.P.H. from the Harvard School of
Public Health. He has practiced medicine at the Mayo Clinic,
Hershey Medical School and Yale University School of Medicine.
He currently serves on numerous medical boards and in associations
including The New York and St. Louis Academy of Sciences. He
serves on the board of The World Affairs Council of St. Louis.
Archdiocesan Development Appeal Appoints Hollie as Chair

Archbishop Justin Rigali has appointed Thad Hollie, Jr.
as general chairman of the 2001 Archdiocesan Development Appeal.
Hollie is an attorney for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and
has been active in the Archdiocese and his parish for several
years.
Hollie is the first African-American to serve as the Appeal's
chairman, the largest annual charitable undertaking of the Archdiocese
of St. Louis, raising more than $200 million since its start
as a Roman Catholic tradition in 1949. After earning a bachelor's
degree from Harvard University in 1971, Hollie attended Washington
University's law school, graduating in 1974.
After graduation, Hollie took a position in the legal department
of Southwestern Bell. He has been promoted on several occasions,
and, as general attorney, supervises a staff of lawyers who
handle litigation, labor and general legal matters from Southwestern
Bell's Missouri operations.
Hollie has been actively involved in the Archdiocesan Development
Appeal, serving on its Council since 1997. In addition, he has
served on several other area charitable and civic boards: Consolidated
Neighborhood Services, George Washington Carver House, Monsanto
YMCA, and Downtown St. Louis Special Business District. He has
been a volunteer in the Keystone District of the St. Louis Area
Council, Boy Scouts of America for many years.
The 2000 Archdiocesan Development Appeal raised a record $10.9
million for education, spiritual programs and critical support
to those in need throughout the Archdiocese. More than one-half
million people receive assistance from the more than 100 agencies
and programs supported by the annual Appeal.
Missouri Land Title Association Honors Kurzenberger
The Missouri Land Title Association recently named Tom Kurzenberger,
Jr., "Young Title Professional of the Year."
He was selected for this award for being an outstanding young
leader in the Title Insurance business, being a leader in his
field and contributing personally to the improvement of the
title industry. Kurzenberger is manager of the Construction
Disbursing Department for Title Insurers Agency, Inc. and also
manages the West and Eureka offices of the company.
He is an active member of the Missouri Land Title Association,
Home Builders Association, Mortgage Bankers Association and
the RCGA.
Kurzenberger was honored during the MLTA annual convention in
September 2000.
Cousins Receives St. Louis Bar Foundation Award

Steven
N. Cousins, a partner and member of the Executive Committee
at the law firm of Armstrong Teasdale LLP, is the recipient
of The Foundation Award given by the Fellows of the St. Louis
Bar Foundation. Carol Chazen Friedman, Foundation president,
presented the award to Cousins at the Foundation's Recognition
and Awards Dinner on November 4 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in
Clayton. The other recipient of the award is Melton M. Lewis.
The award is presented annually to members of the legal profession
who exhibit exemplary charitable spirit and service to the community
and the profession. This is the third time that two people have
been given this honor in the same year.
Cousins was chosen for this award for his long service in making
an impact on the lives of young people in St. Louis through
a number of organizations, including his work with the St. Louis
Internship Program (SLIP), the nationally-acclaimed summer work
program for minority high school students. Cousins is a founding
co-chair of the St. Louis Internship Program that has since
been replicated in 38 U.S. cities.
His commitment to the community also includes service on many
local boards including Saint Louis University's Board of Regents,
St. Louis Children's Hospital, Webster University's Board of
Trustees, the St. Louis Public Schools Foundation, Saint Louis
Art Museum, St. Louis Symphony, Opera Theatre of St. Louis and
the Private Bank. He is a member of the Downtown Now! Task Force
of the City of St. Louis. Cousins serves on the Executive Committee
of, and is General Counsel to, the RCGA and is one of the vice-chairs
of The Regional Business Council.

David R. White, a long-time St. Louis public relations
executive, has been named senior vice president and general
manager of the St. Louis office of Cushman/Amberg Communications.
White replaces Jonathan Sloane, who has been promoted to vice
president and director of national media operations for the
Chicago-based agency. White was most recently a senior vice
president at Fleishman-Hillard in St. Louis, where for 14 years
he directed a number of consumer product and corporate accounts.
Prior to that, he was public relations manager for Citicorp
Person-To-Person, also in St. Louis.

and its St. Louis office, also operates offices in Washington,
D.C., and is a partner in Public Relations Organization International
(PROI), a network of independent PR firms in 16 countries around

GenAmerica Names Eichner as President and CEO, Liddy as Board

GenAmerica Financial Corporation has appointed Kevin C. Eichner
as president and CEO of the corporation and of General American
Life Insurance Company, a GenAmerica Financial. Eichner has
served since February 2000 as president of General American.
The announcement came as Richard A. Liddy retires from his active
role as president and CEO of GenAmerica Financial and CEO of
General American Life Insurance Company. The retirement was
effective September 15, 2000. Liddy remains board chairman at
both GenAmerica Financial and General American. He also retains
his position as board chairman at Reinsurance Group of American,
Inc.
GenAmerica Financial was acquired by MetLife, Inc. in January
2000 and continues to operate from its national headquarters
in St. Louis.
Eichner joined the company in 1997 as president and chief operating
officer of Collaborative Strategies, Inc., a management-consulting
firm acquired by GenAmerica. He served as executive vice president
and chairman of subsidiaries GenMark, Inc., and Walnut Street
Securities, Inc., prior to his appointment as president of the
organization's core life insurance company.
Eichner holds a B.A. degree in Social Change from Ottawa University
where he is chairman of the board, and received an M.B.A. from
The Harvard Business School.

B. Yust, a native St. Louisan, has been named regional president
of the Gateway Region of AXA Advisors LLC. The Gateway Region
currently has approximately 275 financial professionals in offices
throughout the region and offers a wide range of financial planning
and investment services.
Prior to his appointment as Regional President of AXA Advisors,
LLC, Yust served as an agency manager for the Equitable Life
Assurance Society in its offices in Chicago, Honolulu, Overland
Park and Wichita, Kan. and in Clayton, Mo. He has been with
the company since 1977, and has earned numerous awards for outstanding
sales and management.
Active in community and professional organizations, Yust is
a board member of The Herbert Hoover Boys and Girls Clubs and
is a member of the de Tocqueville Society for United Way. He
has been an involved supporter of projects for St. Patrick's
Center's "Sack Homelessness" and "Adopt-A-Family" programs,

Uselton Named to Board for Worth Inc.
Jim Uselton, executive vice president of Jacobs Engineering,
Inc., and chairman of Sverdrup Technology, Inc., has been named
to the board of directors for Worth Inc., a leading manufacturer
of baseball and softball equipment headquartered in Tullahoma,
Tenn.
Uselton joined Sverdrup at the Arnold Engineering Development
Center, one of the world's largest aerospace research and test
facilities, in 1962 after graduating with a bachelor's degree
in mechanical engineering from the University of Tennessee.
While at AEDC, he received his master's degree from the University
of Tennessee Space Institute in 1966. At Sverdrup, he held numerous
technical and management positions before becoming president
of Sverdrup Corporation and chairman of Sverdrup Technology
in 1995.
Uselton is an associate fellow of the American Institute of
Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). He has authored 44 technical
reports and papers on wind tunnel test programs and techniques.
Leary Joins SalesOrbit, Rezex Appointed Director of Operations
Michael Leary, CPA, has been named senior vice president
and chief financial officer, and Abraham Rezex has been appointed
director of operations for SalesOrbit Corp., a new St. Louis-based
enterprise that provides a convenient method for immigrants
to send e-remittances to friends and family in their home countries
via the Internet. Recently, it opened its new headquarters in
Chesterfield. Leary brings more than 30 years experience in
accounting, administration, and mergers and acquisitions to
his leadership role at SalesOrbit. He is a former partner in
the audit department of Deloitte & Touche LLP where he had both
client and administrative responsibilities.
At the same time, Rezex was named director of operations. He
was previously the banking center manager at Bank of America,
where his responsibilities included the development of market
strategies for the penetration of the Hispanic market. While
serving in that role, Rezex was appointed to the Midwest Diversity
Board. Rezex also serves on the board of directors of the Hispanic
Chamber of Commerce of St. Louis.
Wakefield Promoted to VP of Construction at Metropolitan
Design & Building
Metropolitan Design & Building Co., Inc., a St. Louis-based
commercial and residential design-build firm, promoted William
Wakefield to vice president of construction.
Prior to his promotion, Wakefield was construction manager/estimator
for Metropolitan. In his new position, Wakefield will oversee
all estimating, purchasing, job safety, and hiring and supervision
of field personnel. He has more than 23 years experience in
the construction field, the last 10 with Metropolitan.
Metropolitan has won numerous awards at the national and regional
levels for excellence in design and craftsmanship since its
inception in 1981. The firm specializes in adaptive re-use and
remodeling construction.
Vi-Jon Appoints New Board Member
Vi-Jon Laboratories, Inc., of St. Louis has appointed General
Alfred M. Gray, Jr., USMC (Ret.) to its board of directors,
announced John W. Brunner, chairman of the board of Vi-Jon.
General Gray was the 29th Commandant of the United States Marine
Corps, with more than 200,000 Marines under his command throughout
the world. He was also the first commandant of the Marine Corps
to work his way through the ranks. In 1991, General Gray retired
from the Marine Corps after 41 years of service and joined Garber
International Associates (GIA) as a senior associate
