FARR CHAIRS 2007 UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN
United Way of Greater St. Louis has chosen David N. Farr to
serve as its 2007 campaign chairman. Farr is chairman, CEO and
president of Emerson. Farr, a member of the United Way board,
has been involved with United Way of Greater St. Louis for over
ten years.
SAVE-A-LOT NAMES GOODMAN EXECUTIVE VICE
PRESIDENT & CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Mark Goodman has been appointed executive vice president and
chief operating officer at Save-A-Lot. Goodman previously worked
as executive vice president of marketing in membership and e-commerce
for Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club.
HARRAH’S WELCOMES GRIEVE TO ST. LOUIS
Harrah’s St. Louis has named Andy Grieve its new vice president
of marketing. He previously served as Harrah’s regional vice
president of marketing for the Midwest region. Prior to Harrah’s,
Grieve spent nearly five years with a strategic consulting firm,
Bain & Company.
THE PRIVATEBANK NAMES GAGEN MANAGING
DIRECTOR
Anne Gagen has been appointed managing director at The PrivateBank,
where she will specialize in finding and building relationships
with new businesses. She is a 33-year veteran of the banking
industry and previously served as executive vice president at
Midwest Bankcentre in St. Louis.
YWCA ELECTS NEW BOARD MEMBERS
YWCA Metro St. Louis has announced the election of four new
members to its board of directors. Elected to three-year terms
are Antoinette Bailey, president of Bailey Consulting; Ann Prenatt,
vice chancellor for human resources at Washington University;
Nicole Ringenberg, vice president of finance at Monsanto Co.;
and Patricia Smith-Thurman, vice president and group head of
financial services development at MasterCard Worldwide.
The following members were elected to additional three-year
terms on the board: Lissa Hollenbeck, vice president at Boeing
Military Aircraft and Missile Systems; Gail E. Holmes, brand
manager at Energizer; Erica Moore, center manager at Access
Catalog Company; Sharon O’Keefe, chief operating officer at
Barnes-Jewish Hospital; Lydia Padilla, president/franchise owner
of TRC Staffing Services Inc.; Valerie Patton, executive director
of St. Louis Business Diversity Initiative; and Cherish Perry,
bilingual investigator of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission.
BECK JOINS CLAYCO OWNERSHIP TEAM
Accountant Gregory A. Beck, senior vice president and chief
financial officer, has purchased stock in Clayco, taking over
the shares previously held by former chief financial officer
Mike Murphy. Beck joined Clayco in early 2006.
LINDSAY JOINS KETC AS VP OF NATIONAL/
INTERNATIONAL PRODUCTIONS
John Lindsay has been appointed to the newly created position
of vice president of national/international productions at public
television station KETC/Channel 9. Lindsay joined KETC from
Towers Productions in Chicago, where he served as vice president
of international productions since 2004.
ALIZADEH NAMED PRESIDENT-ELECT OF ASFE
Engineer Ed D. Alizadeh has been named president-elect of ASFE/The
Best People on Earth, a not-for-profit association of “earth
engineering” firms. Alizadeh is president and CEO of Geotechnology
Inc.
VARSAM JOINS ARMSTRONG TEASDALE
Nick H. Varsam has joined the law firm of Armstrong Teasdale
LLP as a partner in the firm’s business services department.
Prior to returning to private practice, he served as the general
counsel of Huttig Building Products Inc.
A.G. EDWARDS NAMES NEW DIRECTOR OF LAW
At A.G. Edwards, Vice President Clay L. Grumke has been named
director of the firm’s law department. During his 15 years at
A.G. Edwards, Grumke has served in a variety of roles, including
his most recent position as vice president and assistant director
of law. Previously, he served as the firm’s litigation counsel.
HEARTLAND BANK PROMOTES LUTEN
Heartland Bank has promoted Sam Luten to the position of executive
vice president and senior lender in real estate. A 27-year veteran
of the banking industry, Luten joined Heartland in 2004 as manager
of the commercial real estate and construction financing division.
SLCC CHANCELLOR RETIRES, TAKES ON NEW
POSITION
St. Louis Community College Chancellor Henry D. Shannon has
announced that he is retiring on Aug. 31 after 24 years with
the college. He has accepted the position of superintendent
and president at Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.,
starting on Sept. 1.
Shannon began his career at St. Louis Community College in 1983
as dean of Student Services at the Forest Park campus. He was
named chancellor in January 2000 after serving as acting chancellor
for four months.
