"ST. LOUIS BECOMES BATTLE GROUND FOR WAGING PEACE"

St. Louis hosts a delegation from our Sister City Lyon, France as part of the “Waging Peace in our Communities” initiative. Funded by a U.S. State Department grant and administered by the World Trade Center St. Louis and the St. Louis—Lyon Sister Cities Committee, citizen volunteers have partnered with their French counterparts to improve cultural understanding and the integration of minorities and disadvantaged populations into the local economy. During a 3-day visit, the St. Louis delegation will present programs currently in place in our area to address this issue. The St. Louis delegation is led by Lyon Board Member Susan Powers and comprised of prominent area authors, attorneys and institution leaders from the Anti-Defamation League, Deaconess Foundation, Focus St. Louis, International Institute, Madison County Employment and Training Department, Sigma Aldrich Corporation, St. Louis Archdiocese, Saint Louis University, United Way of Greater St. Louis, University of Missouri St. Louis, and Washington University.
The Lyon delegation is led by Hubert Julien-Lafferrière, Mayor of the 9th District of Lyon and comprised of members from Lyon City and Greater Lyon government, urban planners, attorneys, social equality agencies, youth organizations, and diversity policy associations.
