FAST COMPANY RECOGNIZES BHATIA AS A TOP FEMALE ENTREPRENEUR

Himanshu (Sue) Bhatia, CEO of Rose International, has been ranked No. 13 on the Top 25 Woman Business Builders list by Fast Company magazine and the Women Presidents’ Organization. The first annual compilation is featured in the May 2005 issue of Fast Company.

The magazine received nearly 600 applications from industries as varied as fashion, agriculture, manufacturing and armored security. Each applicant was scored based on revenue, revenue growth, and level and consistency of profits.

“Bhatia’s focus on customer service in an industry not known for its friendliness has won her customers like the U.S. Army, Boeing, Toyota and ChevronTexaco,” writes Alison Overholt for Fast Company. “Rose International’s revenue topped $50 million in 2004, and Bhatia expects to nail the $100 million mark in 2005.”

LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS RECOGNIZED
IN INBOUND LOGISTICS MAGAZINE


Logistics Management Solutions has been named as both a Top 100 Logistics Information Technology Company and a Top 100 Third Party Logistics Provider by Inbound Logistics magazine, a nationally distributed magazine for logistics and transportation professionals.


The firm was named to the Top 100 Logistics Information Technology Company list in the magazine’s April issue. Selectors compiled the list by evaluating the technology and service offered by companies across the country. The company also remains on the Top 100 Third Party Logistics Provider list from last year.

RYAN NAMED ONE OF TOP 25 WOMEN IN HEALTH CARE

Sister Mary Jean Ryan, president and CEO of SSM Health Care, has been named one of the Top 25 Women in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare magazine. This is the first year that the magazine has compiled the list.

Modern Healthcare magazine’s editorial board selected the top 25 women from 118 nominations. Among those chosen were Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton; Julie Gereberding, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; and Gail Wilensky, former administrator of the Health Care Financing Administration.

Sister Ryan started her career in health care as a nurse more than 45 years ago. She has led SSM Health Care since its inception in 1986.

HILTON NAMED AMONG TOP 100 MOST INFLUENTIAL PRACTITIONERS


Thomas E. Hilton, partner at accounting firm Anders Minkler & Diehl LLP, has made CPA Magazine’s Top 100 Most Influential Practitioners list for 2005. The annual list recognizes the most influential members of the accounting profession who work in public practice.

Hilton has 30 years of experience in business consulting and was inducted last year into the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ Business Valuation Hall of Fame.

Practitioners chosen for the 2005 list were selected from 10 different categories: large firms, small- to mid-sized firms, auditing, business specialties, forensic accounting, financial planning, practice management, management consulting, tax and technology. Hilton was one of only three accountants recognized in the business specialties category.

MISSOURI STATE BANK RANKS AMONG TOP 50 BANKS
FOR COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL PORTFOLIOS


Missouri State Bank ranks No. 48 among the top 150 community banks with the largest commercial and industrial loan portfolios, according to a list released by American Banker magazine in the April 13 issue. Missouri State Bank is the only St. Louis-based bank that made the list.

“We are extremely thrilled to be recognized for our outstanding achievements in this category for 2004,” stated Jim Saitz, president and CEO of Missouri State Bank. “This accomplishment directly correlates to the talent, dedication and focus of all of our employees and directors. We share this honor with them.”

THREE LOCAl FIRMS LAND ON INNER CITY100

Pangea Group, ABNA Engineering and A&A Contracting have been named to the Inner City 100 list of the fastest-growing companies in urban America. The list appeared in the June issue of Inc. magazine.


Selectors chose winners from more than 7,500 nominees and ranked them according to revenue growth from 1999 to 2003. Collectively, the 2004 Inner City 100 companies achieved an average growth rate of 872 percent, created 11,600 new jobs, employed close to 16,000 people, and had average revenues of $26.5 million in 2004.

Created in 1999, the Inner City 100 ranks the fastest-growing companies in inner cities across America. The program is a joint initiative by Inc. magazine and the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City, which is a national non-profit group focused on creating healthy urban economies.

WORLD WIDE TECHNOLOGY FEATURED IN BLACK ENTERPRISE MAGAZINE

St. Louis-based World Wide Technology is the nation’s largest African American-owned industrial/service company for the second consecutive year, according to the B.E. 100s list in the June issue of Black Enterprise magazine. St. Louis-based Roberts Broadcast-ing Co. ranked No. 76 with 2004 sales of $39.42 million.

Led by chief executive David Steward, World Wide Technology holds the top spot with 2004 sales of $1.4 billion. World Wide Technology is a systems integration company founded in 1990.

Researchers at Black Enterprise collected surveys from hundreds of companies and information from government agencies, professional organizations, industry associations and other business-related sources to compile the rankings.

GATEWAY ARCH WEB SITE WINS AWARD FROM STEP INSIDE DESIGN


The Web site for the Gateway Arch, www.archfund.org, has won STEP inside design magazine’s STEP 100 (On Fire) Design Annual 2005. Creative design firm Atomicdust and Arnold Worldwide worked with Jefferson National Parks Association to promote a new fundraising effort for the Gateway Arch. The magazine selected 100 winners from thousands of entries.
