Golf Galore at The RCGA’s 14th Annual “Try St. Louis… Buy St. Louis” Golf Tournament

The RCGA’s 14th Annual “Try St. Louis…Buy St. Louis” Golf Tournament, held Monday, June 17th on Whitmoor Country Club’s north and south courses, provided another great day of golf, prizes, gifts, lunch, refreshments, dinner and fun for more than 225 golfers.

Sixty competition prizes were awarded – 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in Championship and A Flights. First place winners in the Championship Flight on the north course were from the Emerson Team. South course winners were Barry Clifton and Bob Failla of Summit Office Services and Dave Garren, Todd Parker.

The popular closest-to-the-pin shoot-out among the eight closest-to-the pin winners for a $1,000 gift certificate highlighted the day at the end of the tournament. The winner was Dan Bragg from the Emerson team.

The 2002 tournament was sponsored by AT&T; Marsh Advantage America (A Service of Seabury & Smith); and Mercy Health Plans. KMOX News/Talk 1120 was the media sponsor. Tom Ackerman, with KMOX Sports, was the emcee for the dinner/awards program, which featured more than 150 attendance prizes and several auction items. John Rocco, General Manager, AT&T Solutions, and Richard Shank, Vice President, AT&T Business Sales, were co-chairs.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Bommarito Automotive Group provided hole-in-one contests for a 2002 GMC Sonoma and 2002 GMC Yukon. MasterCard International offered hole-in-one contests for a $10,000 MasterCard credit on both courses. Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc. and Central States Coca-Cola Bottling Company contributed the refreshments.

Closest-to-the-pin contests were sponsored by Blue Cross & Blue Cross of Missouri, Guardian, Marsh USA, First Bank of Missouri, The Standard Insurance and Marsh Advantage America (A Service of Seabury & Smith). Longest drive for men and women and longest putt contests were sponsored by Golf Headquarters and Italgrani, U.S.A. Beverage carts were sponsored by TheBank of Edwardsville, The MBC Group, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, RLK & Associates, Great American Corporate Dining and Suite Living. Commerce Bank hosted the tournament’s 19th hole reception.
