Road Trip Builds Relationships
In May, the RCGA Economic Development staff and local economic development
partners pitched the St. Louis region to some 30 site location consultants
and corporate real estate directors in Chicago. The Chicago area
continues to be a strong source of new business expansion leads
for the St. Louis region.
In addition, 21 Missouri and Illinois elected leaders and guests,
including Missouri Senate President Pro-Tem Peter Kinder (R-Cape
Girardeau), Sen. John Scott (D-St. Louis), Missouri Rep. May Scheve
(D-Affton), Illinois Rep. Dan Reitz (D-Steelville), and Illinois
Rep. Kurt Granberg (D-Carlyle), as well as RCGA Government Affairs
volunteers and staff, met at the Cardinals vs. Cubs game at Wrigley
Field.
The event provided an excellent opportunity to "sell" the St. Louis
region, and strengthened ties between Missouri and Illinois legislators.
In May, the
RCGA hosted a group of Chicago-based site location consultants and
Missouri and Illinois elected officials and guests at Beyond the
Ivy rooftop for a Cardinals vs. Cubs game at Wrigley Field. Getting
acquainted are: (left to right) Mike Cello, corporate services director
for Douglas Elliman-Beitler (a development and real estate services
company based in Chicago); Dick Fleming, president & CEO of the
RCGA; and Dan Ulbricht, associate director of business development
for Griswold, Heckel & Kelly Associates, a facilities planning firm.
