ENTERPRISE TO HIRE 6,500 IN 2004

Responding to continued growth and consumer demand, Enterprise Rent-A-Car will hire 6,500 people in 2004, officials said. “Our steady growth has created a continual need at Enterprise for college-educated individuals to join our management training program,” said Ed Adams, senior vice president of human resources. “These motivated entry-level employees are taught the business from the ground up with a strong focus on building exceptional customer service skills.”

Last year, Enterprise opened more than 300 new locations, increasing its total to more than 5,500. Enterprise mostly will be seeking candidates for its Management Training Program, where nearly 100 percent of its operational employees get their start.

SSM HEALTH CARE TO BECOME SMOKE FREE

SSM Health Care will become tobacco-free by Nov. 18, 2004, coinciding with the American Cancer Society’s Great American Smokeout. As of that date, no tobacco use of any kind will be permitted inside or outside any of SSM Health Care’s 20 hospitals, clinics, medical office buildings or nursing homes. This includes the elimination of outdoor smoking areas where employees, patients and visitors currently smoke.

Sister Mary Jean Ryan, president and CEO of SSM, said, “As a health care organization committed to the health and safety of its employees, patients and their families, it is our responsibility to take a leadership role on this major public health issue. I can think of no better step to take than to eliminate the use of tobacco throughout SSM Health Care.”

For the first time, Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc. will sponsor an Olympic Games held outside the U.S., becoming the “official beer sponsor” of the 20th Olympic Winter Games, to be held in Torino, Italy, in 2006. Company officials said they will support the sponsorship through point-of-sale materials, sales promotions, branded merchandise and other marketing programs.

In addition to the 2006 Winter Games, Anheuser-Busch has signed a separate agreement with the U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC), extending Budweiser and Bud Light as the “official beer sponsors” of the U.S. Olympic Team through 2008.
