Leadership
Trip to Boston April 28-30th
The agenda for this year’s St. Louis Leadership Exchange trip to
Boston is nearing completion. The program will include an examination
of Boston’s long-standing successes in the life sciences, a glimpse
of one of the nation’s most ambitious transportation projects—the
“Big Dig,” and perspectives on the Boston and St. Louis regions
from the Mayor of Boston, the Governor of Massachusetts, and Harvard
professor Michael Porter.
he RCGA Leadership Trip will be held Sunday, Monday and Tuesday,
April 28 - 30. RCGA Chairman John Bachmann, RCGA Board members
Bruce Holland, Pat Whitaker, Doug Yaeger, and
St. Louis Clergy Coalition President Rev. Earl Nance, Jr.,
will be the co-chairs of this year’s Leadership Exchange, originally
scheduled for last September but rescheduled in light of the September
11th tragedy.
Beyond the 2002 Super Bowl, the two regions have many issues in
common. Among those planning to address our delegation are: Massachusetts
Governor Jane Swift; Michael Porter; Secretary of
Finance for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Kevin Sullivan;
Massachusetts Biotechnology Council President Janice Bourque,
and other leaders of Boston’s 25-year-old life sciences success
story; Metropolitan Area Planning Council Executive Director David
Soule; Joan Vennochi, columnist, The Boston Globe;
Hubie Jones, special assistant to the Chancellor for Urban
Affairs, University of Massachusetts, Boston; Steve Cecil,
owner and principal, The Cecil Group; Rick Demino, president,
Artery Business Committee; Mark Levin, chairman & CEO, Millennium
Pharmaceuticals; Terry McGuire, managing general partner,
Polaris Venture Partners; Neil Sullivan, executive director,
The Boston Private Industry Council; and Tripp Jones, executive
director, The Massachusetts Institute for a New Commonwealth.
Now in its 6th year, the RCGA Leadership Exchange has consistently
sold out early, with a maximum of 125 St. Louis regional business,
civic and elected leaders participating. First preference is given
to RCGA Board members and to members of the RCGA Leadership Circle.
Call RCGA Associate Vice President Colin Stahlhut today at
314/444-1145 for more information, or e-mail him at cstahlhut@stlrcga.org.
Speaking of Leadership Trips, a delegation of some 100 business
and civic leaders from Nashville will be visiting St. Louis on Sunday,
Monday and Tuesday, May 19 - 21, for their Leadership Trip this
year; the RCGA will serve as local host. |
