Wightman
Receives Saint Louis Zoo Award
|
O. Sage Wightman III, accompanied by his wife Lee,
was awarded the 2000 “Saint Louis Zoo Award” for
his dedication to serving the community and his
long association with the Zoo.

For his dedication to serving the community and his long association
with the Saint Louis Zoo, civic leader O. Sage Wightman III
received the 2000 “Saint Louis Zoo Award.” The award, a sculpture
of the Zoo pylon, was presented at the ninth annual Marlin Perkins
Society dinner at the Zoo in November 2000.
Since 1996, the “Saint Louis Zoo Award” has been presented to individuals
committed to the community through leadership in a variety of areas,
particularly zoological, environmental and conservation interests.
Past recipients of the award have been E. Desmond Lee, Robert R.
Hermann, Lee M. Liberman and Paul A. Lux.
Wightman’s long relationship with the Saint Louis Zoo started when
he was 16 working his first summer job at the Zoo concession stand.
Recently, Wightman served as the Chairman of the Saint Louis Zoo
2004 Foundation.
In addition to his volunteer work for the Zoo, Wightman serves on
the board of directors of the Missouri Botanical Garden, Saint Louis
Symphony, VP Fair Foundation and the Animal Protective Association.
He is also a trustee of the Caleb C. and Julia W. Dula Educational
and Charitable Foundation, established in 1939 by his aunt Julia
Dula. The foundation supports a wide range of causes including the
Saint Louis Zoo.
Nooney Elected to IREM National Office

Patricia Nooney, president of Coldwell Banker Commercial
American Spectrum and secretary/treasurer of the
Institute of Real Estate Management.

Patricia Nooney, president of Coldwell Banker Commercial American
Spectrum, has been elected secretary/treasurer of the Institute
of Real Estate Management (IREM). IREM provides education, information,
research, analysis and practical advice for professionals managing
all types of income-producing real estate.
Nooney’s election places her in position to be IREM president-elect
in 2002 and president the following year. Her previous national
positions with IREM have included senior vice president of the organization’s
Legislative, Accredited Residential Manager, Communications and
Services divisions.
Hecker Joins Forum Studio as Principal

Hans Hecker,
AIA, has joined Forum Studio as a principal. Forum Studio is a full-service
architecture, engineering and planning collaborative formed to serve
Clayco Construction Co., its clients and outside developer clients
in the design/build process.
Prior to joining Forum, Hecker was architectural discipline director
and a senior project manager with Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum Inc.
His project experience includes the 801 Grand Avenue Building in
Des Moines, Iowa, listed among the tallest buildings in the Midwest,
the former Hotel Nikko (now the Westin Hotel) in Chicago, and the
U.S. Courthouse Annex in Denver. In St. Louis, project highlights
are buildings within Clayton Corporate Park, the Blue Cross/Blue
Shield headquarters relocation and The Nidus Center.
In the past 18 months, Forum Studio has grown to include 35 architects,
mechanical, electrical and structural engineers, and graphic and
interior designers. Forum’s current projects include TRiSTAR Business
Communities’ new Riverport Commons Office Park and redevelopment
of the Moolah Temple in mid-town St. Louis, engineering systems
for Ernst & Young’s offices at the Plaza in Clayton and Touch of
Class Catalog distribution warehouse in Indiana, and designing a
data center for Trammell Crow Company in Las Colinas, Texas.
Washington University Appoints New Director of Public Policy
and Renames Center
The Center for the Study of American Business at Washington University
started the New Year with a new name and new director of the public
policy center. Steven Smith assumed the top position at the
University’s public policy center and the Center has been renamed
the Murray Weidenbaum Center on the Economy, Government, and Public
Policy in honor of its founder and director. Smith has also been
named the Kate M. Gregg Professor of Social Sciences and joins the
Department of Political Science in Arts & Sciences.
Prior to his move to Washington University, Smith was the Distinguished
McKnight University Professor of Political Science and Law at the
University of Minnesota. Previously, he taught at Northwestern University
and George Washington University. He is a recipient of the Morse-Alumni
Award for his contributions to undergraduate education at the University
of Minnesota. Smith’s research interests focus on American politics,
particularly the operation of Congress. In addition, Smith is co-editor
of Legislative Studies Quarterly and has served on
the editorial boards of the American Journal of Political Science
and Journal of Politics, as well as the author of seven books.
Weidenbaum founded the Center for the Study of American Business
at Washington University in 1975. He led the Center as director
and chairman for most of the past 25 years. In 1981 and 1982, Weidenbaum
was President Ronald Reagan’s first chairman of the Council of Economic
Advisors and served as a member of the President’s Economic Policy
Advisory Board from 1983 to 1989. He also served as the corporate
economist at the Boeing Company. Since 1964, Weidenbaum has been
a member of the faculty at Washington University and will continue
his writing and research at the Center following his return from
a one-year sabbatical.

Tomas O’Donnell, vice president and manager of Private Client
Services for A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc., has been appointed president
of A.G. Edwards Trust Company, an affiliate of the investment firm.
In addition, Richard Grabish, senior vice president and assistant
director of A.G. Edwards & Sons’ Sales and Marketing Division, has
been promoted from president to chairman and CEO of the A.G. Edwards
Trust Company, upon the March retirement of Corporate Vice President
Robert Proost who served as chairman of the trust company and as
A.G. Edwards & Sons chief financial officer and director of the
Administration Division.
In his current position, which he has held for the past six years,
O’Donnell oversees a variety of planning services such as estate,
financial and investment planning. Before joining A.G. Edwards &
Sons Inc. in 1995, O’Donnell served for seven years as national
marketing director for the structured finance department of New
York Life. He has held other sales, marketing and management positions
in the securities industries and previously practiced law as a partner
in a St. Louis law firm.
Bohnenkamp to Oversee European Operations for Watlow
Steve Bohnenkamp, corporate vice president at Watlow Electric Manufacturing
Co., is now overseeing the company’s European operations, in addition
to his current responsibilities for Asian operations. Bohnenkamp
has held various management positions during his 25-year career
with Watlow. As a regional manager, he developed the Texas region
as one of the top three sales territories in the world and built
its distribution program to one of the top two. He is also responsible
for opening five domestic sales offices and helping establish new
market positions in the life sciences, semiconductor and petrochemical
industries.
Watlow provides thermal solutions such as industrial heaters, sensors,
controllers, software and systems. The company’s headquarters is
in St. Louis and Watlow has manufacturing facilities in several
locations throughout the world.
Sandra Van Trease Adds President to Duties at RightCHOICE
Sandra Van Trease, recently added the title of president to
her duties as chief operating officer and chief financial officer
at RightCHOICE Managed Care Inc., one of the largest and most profitable
managed health care companies in Missouri.
During her six years at RightCHOICE, Van Trease has played a key
leadership role in guiding the company through a dramatic financial
turnaround, going from financial loss to 10 consecutive quarters
of improved profitability, in a competitive health care market while
at the same time assisting the company in addressing challenges
such as litigation issues. Her responsibilities include: finance,
sales and marketing, medical delivery systems, information services,
product management, business analysis, and medical and provider
affairs at the company. RightCHOICE employs more than 1,500 people
in four offices throughout Missouri.
Van Trease started her career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, where she
spent 12 years working her way up from staff accountant to senior
manager of the company’s middle market audit division. She joined
RightCHOICE in June 1994 as vice president of financial reporting
and analysis. Prior to becoming president, Van Trease held the positions
of senior vice president and chief financial officer, executive
vice president and chief operating officer, and senior executive
vice president and chief operating officer.
Rosenberg Joins Alberici as Director of Diversity

J.S. Alberici Co. Inc., ranked as the 55th largest contractor in
the U.S. by Engineering News-Record, has named David Rosenberg
as director of diversity for its St. Louis office. Rosenberg will
be a member of Alberici’s Business Development group, coordinating
with all Minority Business Enterprises (MBE) and Women’s Business
Enterprises (WBE) activities for current and future projects in
St. Louis.
Prior to joining Alberici, Rosenberg served as executive director
of St. Louis Works Partnership, a nonprofit organization created
to recruit and train individuals for union construction positions.
He serves as a board member for the St. Louis County Workforce Development
Board, PRIDE of St. Louis, the Education Committee for the Labor
Council of Greater St. Louis and the St. Louis Job Corps Industry
Advisory Council.

Forshaw Appointed to Commerce Bank Board of Directors
Commerce Bank has added Joseph Forshaw IV to its Board of
Directors. Forshaw is president and CEO of Forshaw’s, a St. Louis
lawn furniture, fireplace and seasonal retail store.
Commerce Bank is an affiliate of Commerce Bancshares Inc., an $11.4
billion registered bank holding company. The company currently operates
in more than 300 locations in three states and has five other operating
subsidiaries.
Fluid-Air Names New President
David
Pfeil, president, Fluid-Air products Inc.

David Pfeil has assumed duties as president of Fluid-Air
Products Inc., a specialized industrial engineering and equipment
distributor with facilities in Sunset Hills. He replaces his father,
Vince Pfeil, who founded the company in 1966 and will continue as
chairman of the board.
Fluid-Air sells and services products that move, measure, control,
dispense and apply a wide range of fluids, viscous materials and
powder coatings used in commercial and industrial applications.
Coin Acceptors Promotes Thompson to VP-Treasurer
Coin Acceptors Inc. (Coinco) has named Kevin Thompson, CPA,
as vice president and treasurer. In his 12 years with the company,
Thompson has held a variety of positions including assistant secretary,
controller and manager of financial reporting. Prior to joining
Coin Acceptors he was a senior auditor with Arthur Andersen and
Co.
Founded in 1957, Coinco manufactures coin acceptors, coin changers,
bill changers, control systems and other component parts for the
vending industry. |
